As work finishes up on Camrost-Felcorp's conversion of the former Four Seasons Yorkville into a new mixed-use condominium complex, the site of the hotel's former southern podium wing is abuzz with activity as below-grade work progresses on Cumberland at Yorkville Plaza. The new condominium tower, designed by WZMH Architects, will rise 40 storeys above the Avenue and Cumberland intersection, offering 363 residential units ranging in size from 385 square feet up to 855 square feet.

Since our previous visit to the site earlier this Spring, one more of the structure's below-grade levels have been poured, as the building works its way back up to street level. Concrete pouring was ongoing at the time of our visit earlier today, with a mobile concrete pump working from a staging area at the northwest corner of the site.

It will still be many weeks before we see work arrive at grade level, and the podium levels will take some time too. Forms must be built for the unique lower levels, so construction at this stage does not happen quickly. The podium floors will include a number of amenities which also take extra time to build for. They include an indoor pool and whirlpool spa, men’s and women’s change rooms with showers, day lockers, a steam room, a fitness auditorium with circuit training and cardio equipment, a meditation/yoga studio, and more. Work on the tower floors won't likely happen before the Fall.

Other amenities that residents will also have access to include a large outdoor sun deck and lounge with a bar, prep kitchen, and gas barbecues. Inside the building there is also a lounge and party room, plus two suites for guests staying overnight.
Additional information and plenty of renderings can be found in the dataBase files for both residential phases of the project, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion? Check out the associated Forum threads, or leave a comment in the space provided at the bottom of this page.
