Why do we choose dark coat colours for winter?

I bought a bright yellow Arc'Teryx jacket (Cerium Hoody) during Black Friday for night bike riding. It's incredibly warm, and very much stands out no matter how dark it is.

After I purchased it several months ago I have paid a bit more attention to what colour winter jackets people are wearing: Almost everyone is in black/brown/or white.
