I'm pretty much always in the same spot:
Moderate socialist but skeptical of all forms of gov't, and POed when leaders don't fulfil their campaign promises (9 times out of 10 they don't). What would that make me?
Well, by beliefs are pretty much contradictory too. I am a left-wing anti-union person. Now who do I vote for?? =S
I seem to be farthest out from those who posted on the Left Libertarian spectrum. Not a surprise result for me (nor is Whoaccio's result, as way off from me as you can get - though that's fine - it takes all kinds).
I find it difficult to understand left Libertarians (even though I am ostensibly leaning slightly that way of centre myself). Wouldn't that seem a contradiction in terms? Leftists generally seek social change through government regulation. Wouldn't being libertarian make you an ineffectual leftist or vice versa?
This kind of compass was designed by Liberterians to attract college students to think of themselves as "left libertarians" as opposed to "leftists" as just about anybody under 30 would end up on the libertarian as opposed to authoritarian end of the spectrum. The distinction between social and economic liberties is arbitrary and as such the whole compass is a little suspect.
Are you saying that people who are anti-capitalist (economic left) are also likely to be religious, against gay marriage, etc. (social authortarian), there is really no difference?
