They want to turn it into an oasis for tourists. New York has Central Park but we'll have the Triangle. Maybe they'll deck over the ramp and add a piano.
In a perfect world it'd be reasonable to be critical of the city for not having at least identified such a site for aesthetic improvements - have they ever done so? There's substantial 'Clean & Beautiful' plantings a stone's throw away. It seems the spot'll get a Fairmont-related monument, a suitable reward for taking the initiative.
