TTC: Streetcar Network

And aren't the new Flexies only on some of the streetcar lines?
Hey, these days streetcars are only on some of the streetcar lines!

However, Flexities regularly appear on all the lines that are currently using streetcars, except 506. And there's been some on 506 (and 306) recently too when it's very cold at night. There's no technical constraint that precludes Flexities from going on any route that a CLRV is doing.

And, Flexities have appeared on 501/301, 503, 504/304, 506/306, 509, 510/310, 511, and 512, and 514 since they were delivered

No love for 304 (or former routes 317 and 514).

I missed 503 - when did that happen? It was primarily CLRVs until the most recent busification.

The streetcars could be improved to a more reliable transit option, if it wasn't for the automobile gods and their disciples.

Honestly, this is a very odd map to place on subway trains.

This map is perfectly in place on the legacy streetcars; many of the streetcar riders transfer either to the subways or to other streetcar routes.

But on the subway trains .. The map has great details on streetcar routes that 80% of subway riders don't use, and a Great Void north of St Clair, as if no bus routes operate there. Meanwhile, more than 50% of the subway riders will be reaching the subway on a bus, rather than walking in.

Maybe it might make those north of St Clair demand streetcars.

And, maybe this map will tell people who live north of St. Clair to stop being automobile gods. End of story.

Well, if you think, how many of the subway's riders ( especially Line 1 ) trips are taken in the core. A lot. And that's why it makes sense.

Google’s Sidewalk Labs plans massive expansion to waterfront vision

From link.

...To encourage development, Sidewalk will finance an LRT expansion through the area and fund the construction of “horizontal infrastructure” such as “the power and thermal grid, and waste removal.”...

...This is something that is on nobody’s realistic drawing board. We would ensure it gets financed and all we want to do is get paid back out of the increase in value in terms of property taxes and developer charges that are only possible when that LRT gets extended,” said Doctoroff.

“To be clear,” Doctoroff said. “We would not own the LRT. It would remain public.”...

...Sidewalk Labs provided an update to this plan, showing an optional phase three where the LRT and underground infrastructure would be extended across the shipping channel, preparing another 160 acres for development....

But would they fund the main constraint holding back the WELRT, the Union Station Loop Expansion?
I highly doubt they are even aware that is a thing. It's an empty "look at me" press release, but that's all you need to get three days of positive (and totally inaccurate) coverage on CP24 etc....

Yeah, their plan doesn’t even include the new Don River.
