The information on Dundas West Station track renewal looks very vague. No before and after. No renderings or track plans, just something that looks that was written on a napkin. Seems like they are only replacing the tracks, period.

The last plan I saw was having the tracks on an angle starting at Edna and following the current loop back out.

Given the time frame, it straight track replacement as you will need more months to build the new platform for both buses and streetcars.

Did a photo shoot of the station a week a go as before construction shots and see what changes were made.

We are already down a week as work was supposed to had started on Monday this week.

Lots more info on Steve Munro's site, as usual!

Perhaps someday they'll get around to installing the traffic light they spoke of years ago...

I'm curious, will the Ontario Line work now delay the plan to connect the 509 to Dufferin loop?
From link. The streetcar tracks would be south of the Gardiner Expressway and the railway, while the Ontario Line will be north of them.

It's the Dufferin Bridge reconstruction needed for heavier vehicles going over the expressway and railway where the slowdown will occur. More like wanting for the usual slow response for anything helpful to proceed.

Edna Avenue and Dundas Street West should have traffic signals, so that the streetcars and buses exiting and enter Dundas Street West. In fact, ALL loops and stations should have traffic signals for the streetcars and buses to enter (or exit) the roadway, depending on the local situation, of course.

If I remember correctly, under the angle platform plan, traffic lights were to be install.

Look at the issue of Broadview loop for in and out and you will hear the traffic department and the car folks bitch if lights were install there. It can be a pain getting in/out of the loop as car drivers are too important to wait for a streetcar to turn.

Watching Caledonia Station been built with a TTC bus loop is going to be a nightmare for buses getting in/out of that loop unless Eglinton E/W lights are move 50/100 feet from where they are currently located. Westbound traffic would have to stop on the bridge.

Main can be a pain at time, but doesn't needs lights. Same can be said for Bathurst.

Same excuse for the pedestrian crossing between the Eaton Centre and The Bay. I remember the days they had cops directing traffic between Simpsons and Eatons there. If traffic signals can be used here, they can be used elsewhere, as needed.

Recently, I saw streetcars on Adelaide St. close to Church St. Today, it seems it was a streetcar in service. Before I saw usually only testing. In all cases, the streetcar is stopping quite some time at that corner.

Is this for the upcoming diversion because of Ontario line station construction at Queen? Who has more details?

That's just part of the Church, Richmond, Victoria, Adelaide on-street loop. It's pretty common for 504 cars to use it.

You are correct that the Church & Adelaide intersection is part of the planned Ontario Line diversion. I've seen a number of new poles up on Adelaide and supposedly track construction on York St as well as Adelaide is starting in June.
