TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Too bad the Dundas Subway Station (or Queen Subway Station) were not tiled in the Eaton's Department Store colours.

Don't like the current Dundas Station tile colours at all.

(BTW. The Queen Station contains painted murals by John Boyle at the platform level entitled Our Nell, featuring depictions of Nellie McClung, William Lyon Mackenzie, as well as the former Simpson's and Eaton's department store buildings.

Should have photo cameras for the front of streetcars to catch the illegal left turners.
Would be interesting....but not likely very effective....more often than not the streetcar is stuck behind the car that is stuck behind the car that is stuck behind the illegal left hand turner......now you could argue that since the lane restrictions and left hand turn restrictions are typically in place during the same time periods....to be effective the camera would have to take a 360 degree picture to prove that the two cars stuck behind the left hand turner were guilty of being in the wrong lane and not, as is often the case, just getting past illegally parked cars.

It is a complicated matter! ;)

The problem with cameras is they can't act replace an officer. A video camera would be more effective but there is more technical glitches that can occur.

It would make sense to install bright no left turn signs and flashing train incoming signs as streetcars arrive. Half of these incidences occur cause the driver isn't aware of an incoming streetcar. Even if they were to do an illegal turn, as long as they do get struck and it wouldn't result in a delay to transit users.

If the TTC said that I am afraid the response would be laughter. :)

We can dream. I always thought that if you parked your car in a no parking lane during rush hour that the city should drive an M-1 tank or large garbage truck over/through your car, so this seems logical for those who can't see left arrows in red circles. I dislike when people think the law doesn't apply to them and inconvenience others.

Why not have gates that barrier the street? Those hitting your Mercedes would really make you think twice.
