New images of the new subway cars released.
These are pretty nice. Thank God the initial design was just a place holder. It looked homely and outdated. Especially compared to rolling stock in places like Paris and Lisbon.

Piccadilly has new trains? I was there a few weeks ago and they looked as beaten up as ever. The Elizabeth Line trains and stations looked nice, but I suspect given the extreme passenger volumes, will look shabby in a few years like the rest of their system.

The new trains have just starting to enter service very recently.

Edit: rollout originally scheduled to start at the end of 2025 has been pushed to the 2nd half of 2026.

Actually, the new Piccadilly Line trains are very robust and modern.

Knock TFL all you want but their system is far better than ours on any given day.

I never commented on how reliable or on-time their system is vs. ours. At least all of our trains (old & new) look like trains/subways, unlike 99.9% of theirs (old & new, especially the deep-tube stock). I like the proposed design of the new trains we're gonna get for what it is, and don't particularly wish to subconsciously associate it with TFL. A decade ago the public praised the TRs because they reminded them of the Hong Kong MTR, and now the TR design appears to be outdated already (who'd've thought).

It is worth nothing that the G-Series tranins were both red and british.

I like that the Alstom trains in Budapest (line 2 & 4) have a nice cream interior somewhat reminiscent of the H-series (or even the R42), rather than bland gray/white.

I know the trains well. I believe the M2 trains were retrofits of the Soviet Trains while M4 are new trains.

The bench seating is amazing in them although I do miss their old trains.

Line 2 & 4 use the same model, but 5-car vs. 4-car sets respectively, also line 4 is ATO (no cabs, just a full-width railfan window) while line 2 is manual. So basically similar situation to our line 1 & 4.
Line 3 is the one that had the old 81-717 (and Ev3) trains that were replaced in 2017/2018 with a refurbished model (81-717.2K), none of which have open gangways. Just like our line 2.

What are the chances we will actually get red trains? Could keeping them stock colour be a penny pinching exercise?
