TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

And 4472 is also in service on 514 this afternoon. Two new cars out on the 514 on the same day...
4472 went into service on April 14. It arrived before 4471. 4470 & 4469 were playing follow the leader on 510 when both cars went into service on the same day. Seen a number of cars following each other on different routes with 1 different number between them.

4473 has been burning up the tracks and may see service this week, considering it only arrived on April 9. 15-22 days for in service upon arrival has been the norm these days compared to the 8-10 days last year. Been 9 days so far for 4473.

Any word as to what is coming from Thunder Bay as either 4466 or 4474 and where it is??

If 4474 is pending for delivery then BBD has to deliver 4475-4486 by end of June to hit the target of total 27 shipments for Q1 and Q2 2018. That's 13 in 10 weeks if I am doing the math correctly. 9 weeks if we count transit time for 4486. We'll see I guess.

That's sounds about right. And with a capacity of about 72 to 78 cars a year from their 2 Thunder Bay lines, then if they run at full capacity (finally) then they should be able to build 14-15 cars in ten weeks.

And really, that's what they have to do if they plan on finishing the 204-car order by the end of 2019.

Has the unknown number car been off loaded at Hillcrest yet and if so, what the number??

Going out on the limb, 4473 could enter service between Friday and Monday, since it done its burn in based on what I have seen so far. If so, it will be the shortest from delivery to in service in a long time. 11-14 days if it happens.

Thats why I was asking. It has taken 16 weeks to deliver a total of 15 cars if 4474 has arrived. So they need to build 12 more in a much shorter time span.

Edit because I can't add lol.

CP Rail starting operations shutdown ahead of possible strike

Canadian Pacific says it continues to bargain with two unionized workforces.

See link.

Does CP Rail handle both Thunder Bay & Kingston plants?

I'll expect they could continue building up an inventory of finished streetcars at the plants, waiting for deliveries. Unless they have to look at flatbed trucks, probably escorted.

CP serves T Bay, CN serves Kingston. Bombardier has four fully equipped transporter cars on hand at Thunder Bay. It won’t be hard to provide more when the strike ends, if needed.

The strike won’t last long. Inevitably, the government will order the parties to arbitration. That seems to be what’s infuriating the unions... CP is said to be not taking negotiations seriously, maintaining that the arbitrator will side with them anyways. So any streetcar delivery delay will be over quickly.

PS - that most recent car did reach Hillcrest before the strike set in.

I don't know why people are more worry about CP when the most worrisome problem is BBD being able to produce the streetcar in the first place. It's been a quiet month for deliveries.

I was on 4472 today on the 504 King, and I noticed something rather interesting. They went back to the old red ticket machines, rather then the grey ones.

Nitpick - the Thunder Bay plant is served by both CN and CP. In fact, deliveries of various pieces of equipment in previous years have been shipped by CN.

True, but they would have to backhaul them to Winnipeg or down through the States. CN has no eastward connection from TBay.

Moot point - I just heard on the news that the strike has been averted.

Maybe so, but it still allows for another option in the event of a blockage or work stoppage on CPR.
