Hopefully Bombardier get's the add on order for 60 more cars, and the thread ends in 2021 at 4663.

And with talk of a further 100 cars, perhaps in 2026 or so at 4762 or 4799!

4514 and 4515 en route, will make Sudbury by this evening.

What, no extension order?

With transit nerds, a thread isn’t dead until the last ‘what if’ has been beaten to death. ;-)

Honestly with Doug Ford in power I doubt there will be any money from the province for new streetcars. If anything I can see them being left to rot in favour of buses
At about $3 million a pop (plus some inflation), they'd only need about $200 million for the next 60 cars - minus some credits from the negotiations with Bombardier about contract penalties. Which is far less than the Scarborough Subway funding in the property taxes they are going to have to find a way spend, now that Doug Ford has said he's taking over the subway! :)

Seriously though - it's not unmanageable without provincial funding.

Considering that the province only paid for 204/3 = 68 cars with 136 cars coming from the city's coffin, the could afford another 60 cars. It makes no sense to buy more buses to replace this order if those buses were paid by the city only.

And that's ignoring that the add-on cars, at at the option price of about $3 million compared to the original price of about $5 million each.

With only 11-14 working days for TTC to off load 10 more cars to meet this year schedule as promises by BBD and assuming CP can get the cars to Hillcrest after the 20th, another miss schedule by BBD. 27, 28 and 31 are questionable days for off loading and CP delivering car, other than the 21st being the last day for this year.

4513 was off loaded today, with 4514 maybe being off loaded tomorrow or Monday, depending where CP has it. Need a lots of cars push out the door next week

Still waiting for a car or 2 from Kingston due in Oct that has to go by CN to CP.

TTC will not see the plan number of cars in service this year.

If BBD is willing to do extra cars at $3 m per car, this will mean TTC could be seeing 16 extra cars to cover the $50 m breach of contract and could see more to cover the extra cost TTC has to deal with to keep the existing fleet on the road longer than plan.

I am sure FORD will find a way to delay anymore cars to TTC to cover the extra 60-100 cars they want to the point they could be in his 2nd term in office if he hangs around that long or fools vote him back in. He may say go to the Fed's for funding if you want them sooner.

I knew 2 cars were in QC, 2 cars water damage and a car that derail, where cars out of service for extended time, but not the other ones. Beside those other cars, what other cars are out of service for X reason and time??

With only 11-14 working days for TTC to off load 10 more cars to meet this year schedule as promises by BBD ... 4513 was off loaded today,
TTC's been reporting and publicizing that this year's schedule was 64 cars in-service, with 21 in Q4. All the cars up to 4457 (except 4401) were in service by December 30, 2017, with car 4458 entering service on January 6, 2018.

If all goes well, when car 4513 enters service, it should be the 56th 2018 car.

This means they only need to offload 8 more cars in 2018. If 4570 and 4571 do arrive, then it's only up to car 4519 that needs to arrive in time, to enter service before New Year's.

There may be some internal targets to off load 10 more cars, but they could miss those last 2 cars, without getting any real flack.

Seems optimistic though to put 10 more cars in service in the next 25 days, even if they do all arrive before Christmas.

If all 64 cars are from TB, 4523 is the last car that needs to be here. It will be 4521 if 2 cars from Kingston show up. With unloading 4513 today, 10 more cars are needed for this year schedule. 4459 was the highest number on TTC property in 2017, with 4460 being off loaded Jan 02, even though it was here in 2017

On average this year, 15 days is the time frame for cars arrival and entering service, with a few being less and more over that 15 day. AKA 4508 30 days. Right now, 4512 & 13 should enter service about Dec 19-21 and 4514 could be the last car to enter service this year.

4456 was the last car to enter service on Dec 30, a day after 4457 enter service. To have 64 cars in service this year, it has to be 4521 and not going to happen, considering it has yet to be ship. If 4514 enter service this year, TTC will be short 7 cars per schedule.

To meet with some nebulous unpublicized delivery schedule - perhaps.

But what TTC has been reporting every month, is the number of cars in service. And the target TTC has been saying to the media has been 64 cars in service. The first car in service in 2018 was 4458. So car 64 in service for the year should be car 4521. If 4570 and 4571 do come from Kingston, then it's car 4519 that's must be delivered and put into service before New Year's.

If 4514 enter service this year, TTC will be short 7 cars per schedule.
Correct, if 4514 is the last to enter service this month.

I'm guessing we'll get a surge of car deliveries before Christmas, but too late to push into service, given the Christmas holidays and too many cars to process at once.

I'm also guessing that they'll get positive spin from TTC if they don't achieve 64 in-service, but the 64th car is already delivered by year end. And really, if they are that close to their schedule - I'll be thrilled!
