TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I noticed that too - is it temporary or part of the rollout?

Maybe not temporary per say but ive noticed on weekends the streetcar layout is a bit different than weekdays as they need less streetcars.

So you'd sometimes see flexities on 511 (non exhibition time) and whatnot on weekends. And the 504 is 100% Flexities on the weekends.

I do think Queen is next in the rollout but youll probably see them on and off on the weekends first.

This is what Ottawa cars look like. Alstom stated to me back in 2005 that their cars were design to add or removed section based on needs. From what I have read so far, Ottawa cars are to be in 3 length and no idea how they plan on using them.

This is something I have said in the past regarding our new fleet. It will allow X line to have shorter cars or longer ones as needed, based on ridership. One of the issues for longer cars will be the loops and loading them. Both King and Queen could have cars up to 40-45 m long in the long run, but the car folk will not like that.

That would most likely be 4500 and 2 short of having 50% of the new fleet here. Looks like the Q3 schedule will be met.
The Q3 schedule is to have 15 in service during Q3. The Q3 schedule will have been achieved when 4497 entered service. Car 4500 doesn't impact Q3 schedules.

Confirmed 4500 has been delivered.
To be off loaded tomorrow and will make it 2 car short of TTC having 50% of the fleet on site.

4497 been in the service bay almost a week after its last test run.

4498 westbound on Gerrard St in its 2nd day of testing.

^With DoFo in power, I sincerely wish out city the best of luck in getting any provincial funding whatsoever. Our only hope is the Feds picking up some of the tab if the future order ever goes through.

Looks like 512 is all LF including weekday rush hours...
Yes, that was official as of September 2 with the new board.

And they have stuck to it, normally getting 77 or 78 cars each AM peak. It helps, that with all LF, there's only 19 cars out now in AM peak instead of 24 and 18 out in PM peak instead of 22.

504/514 gets combined and is scheduled to go all Flexity on October 7. Reducing the number of 504/514 cars from 50 in AM peak now, to 42; and 48 in PM peak now to 38. Generally they've been getting 37 to 38 out most days recently, so they may still have a handful of CLRVs for a few weeks.

Then they start on 501. Currently 42 cars running on 501 to be replaced by 34 Flexities according to the 2017 roll-out plan.

With 21 new Flexity's scheduled to arrive from October-December and 20 to 21 each quarter next year, on average. Can't see that being fully converted over until Spring 2019.

That leaves 11 Flexities reported to be required for 511, 19 for 505, 24 for 506, and 14 for 502/503 + 18% spares.

Looks like they need another 120 more cars to convert all the lines, after the first 100.

I am going by the not always reliable Wikipedia reference (as of Feb 2018) which indicates 65 deliveries FY2018. With 21 in Q4 does that not mean BBD is still to deliver 4501,4502,4503 by end of Q3?

The TTC target isn't deliveries though. It's cars in service. 21 for October and 64 for F2018. Here's the summary from TTC as of August 22:

Looking at the Wiki, the 10 Actual cars from Q1 must be 4458 to 4468 (without 4466). The 15 Actual cars from Q2 must be 4466 and 4469 to 4482 (4466 didn't enter revenue service until about 5 AM on July 1 - but presumably TTC "purchased" it before midnight!). In Q3 we've currently had 15 cars enter service (4483 to 4497).

To make up the missing 3 cars from Q1 and Q2, they'd be 4498, 4499, and 4500 - which are already here.

I'm not sure if there is a delivery target or not. There were 12 cars delivered in Q1 - Cars 4460 to 4472 but not including 4466 and 4471 were delivered in Q1. 17 cars were delivered in Q2 (4466, 4471, and 4473 to 4487). To date in Q3 we've had 13 deliveries. Which indicates to me that they don't have anything to catch up!

To meet the goal of having 64 cars in service this year, they need 4521 to arrive in Toronto by about December 20. That's 21 cars arriving in the next 13 weeks.

Based on the last 4 quarters, Thunder Bay production seems fine. The only real question is will they manage to churn out a few cars from Kingston this quarter.
