That podium rendering is very misleading and not representative of the vomit of a podium they ended up building. They need to rip it out and start over.
 
Ripping out the podium and starting over won't accomplish much. You still have the 200 metre trash heap above it. At least, now it's consistently awful. This development is further proof that you don't need a single drop of concrete poured to pass judgement. The development team and a rendering is all you need.

When it comes from Canderel you don't even need the rendering, their name alone is all the evidence one would need to know that the upcoming development would be junk.

Those grey spandrels don’t look as bad on sunny days. If spandrels are inevitable, orange ones that match the colour of the heritage building (not the mess they use on the podium) would make that wall look like an extension of the old building.
 
Those two actually work kinda well together from that second last angle.
 
The grey spandrel sucks and the podium is a mess but the balconies are doing a decent job of making this somewhat interesting from a few choice angles.
