Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

It took 34 hours over 23 days in total to finish it, here’s Map 1 of Union Station:

I’m surprised there’s 2 unoccupied retail locations in the West Wing, that area has been open for years.

Here is a blank version:
I don't think #5 is unoccupied... isn't it listed on the door as the "Downie Wenjack Fund Legacy Space"? Not sure what goes on inside there.

With New Year's Eve less than three weeks away, I hope Metrolinx is reviewing its practices, including staffing and crowd control, from last year.

What exactly do you want them to do?
There were ultimately zero issues other than minor inconveniences that happened at that time last year. It was simply a lot of people in one place, which apparently made the 905 doom-scrollers freak out.
Nothing serious happened, and the only option I see here if you think this is bad is to tell Metrolinx to specifically request 905 people not go to Toronto, which I don't think they would, though I wouldn't mind it if they did.

I thought last New Year's issues were more TTC problems than Metrolinx/GO Transit issues. Problems on the Subway led to the crowd backup trying to gain enterance to the Subway station.
I understood that the GO Train bording process that night was realitivly efficient.
I can back that up, I encountered no problems on the GO side of Union. I’m sure there was something Metrolinx could have done to limit the amount of people going towards the subway station from Bay Concourse, but to my understanding crowd control outside of the concourses should have been handled by the city.

Took a wander around the outer edges of the station yesterday and noticed a few things.

Did the bike station on Front and York always jut out from the main building? I don’t remember it being this large:

There’s some scaffolding and stuff all along the west wing, I wonder if they’re cleaning the station again or something:

Portions of the Bay West Teamway were closed for some sort of concrete work:

It’s still really difficult to navigate if using a mobility device or if you have heavy luggage. The wayfinding is bad and elevators are hard to find and are also lacking.

Just because it came up recently in thread, I thought I'd mention that I tried Bingz up at the Eaton Centre. Had the signature pork .....sandwich, I suppose.

The pastry is a nice, light, crispy, yet fluffy phyllo, that gets high marks from me. The filling was fine, it was sort of a shredded pork in sauce, it had decent richness, but I have to say, it read as a bit one note.

I would have liked something sharp and textural to break it up a bit, like thinly shaved raw green onion.

But, at $5.99 on its own (non-combo) I think it reads as decent snack value. I like it enough to try the duck one sometime. I don't love it so much that I'd go out of my way for it though.

Map 4 (second one I’ve done) is complete.

This map shows:
CIBC Square complex ground level
Station Bus Terminal lower level
& the two Yonge Street entrances that will be closest to the bridge in the future, one through the Backstage Condo building and another through a future entrance on the south side.
