The Bremner Concourse with its many grade changes is going to be an odd place. I'm curious how it could avoid seeming like an afterthought, much like many of the path connections through smaller properties. With the Bremner entrance and a bit of a traffic circle on the south side that entrance could have been made into something a bit more grand.
The concourse is going to be connected pretty decently between the other areas of the station, definitely better than some of the PATH connections.
Here is what the existing hallway behind the Bay Concourse will look like when Bremner opens, it’s going to be opened up and integrated fully into the new concourse, the arcade hallway behind VIA will be similar:
This Saturday I’ll take a photo from this angle, it looks much different right now.
The only connection that’s going to look like an afterthought will be the Bremner-York Concourse connection, I really have no idea what’s going on there, the only connection will be 2 sets of double doors that will originate right behind the platform 20-21 staircase:
This is an extremely cramped area that cannot be improved without removing the platform entrance, and any more than a few people passing through at once will overcrowd the area.
One interesting thing to note is that on the Bremner side the corridor towards York is 2x wider than the planned doorway is, part of me thinks this is an intentional design, the offices & now unused lost & found space in the York Concourse could be removed, allowing a slightly wider entrance:
Here’s a concept I quickly drew up in a few minutes, it gets the overall point across.
Sorry about the long post again I’m not sure how some of you feel about them, I just have the tendency to ramble
