[Northern Light]

Much smaller update this time, not a lot of visible progress since last time, but some.

Photos taken Sept 11th, 2022:

Since north of the tower is essentially complete, we'll start on the south side of the tower:

You can see in this next one an additional granite seatwall vs what we saw last time, in front of the old observatory:

Next a 3 pic series to rant about poorly thought out design, especially galling on a project w/this budget. Not one, Not two, but three styles of pedestrian light fixture, all within the same block, on the same street!

On the photo above..........may we add................."What tree protection zone?" On a tree that size, this equipment is parked right on the tree roots........

Here's one new bit, they've begun excavating the sidewalk on the south end of Hart House Circle/Park:

It seems like a no-brainer to have consistent lighting standards here.

There's also a geothermal heating/cooling plant going under the big grass circle, so yep, a lot more going on than just a parking garage!

I forget where I read it (though it was probably here or in a U of T newsletter), but the garage's ceiling height is supposed to be greater than a typical garage. The idea is that U of T wants the space to be flexible to be reused for something else if the parking space proves unnecessary in the future. Usually, the low ceiling heights of parking garages make them difficult to adapt to new uses.

It's also being designed to be a formal teaching space in respect of geo-thermal tech.

They intend for their academic programs that instruct on this to be able to use this space as a living/working example.

Who would ever think to shoot northwards at that location?................ I mean UC is the only Real U of T college, one doesn't want to cast eyes on that place where the also-rans whose parents bought their access went (Trin)..... LOL
