The Well is a mixed-use community being developed in downtown Toronto with seven buildings comprising over three million square feet of residential, retail and office space. Woodbourne’s involvement in the project is limited to the rental residential portion, which will span three of the buildings and include approximately 900 units.

Monday morning, April 2.

The crane base pit for the first crane has been excavated, and partially filled with water from the rain over the Holiday weekend. There are a total of nine excavators now on site, six with buckets attached, two with drill bits for breaking up the rock - and one excavator sitting idle - does not appear to have anything currently attached to its boom. There are also now three bulldozers on the site, as well as miscellaneous cherry pickers for crew who are working on the retaining walls.

Lots of dump trucks shuttling back and forth between the site entrance / exit and the various excavators.

Considering its size this is moving at a quick pace. Come to think of it A LOT of projects have been moving quickly of late.

About 3pm today. This entire site was mesmerizing to watch. I stayed for about 20 minutes, and counted 7 active excavators scooping giant mounds of mud into one dump truck after another. There were also machines with pneumatic tips breaking rocks into pieces, and numerous tractors pushing mud around. A crew of guys were loading stuff from a flatbed truck on Spadina, while a crane lifted pieces over the fence and down toward where the crane foundation is being prepared. If I can figure out how to upload a video, I'll post that.

I can spend hours watching an active site. Especially when they are pouring concrete. Just one more concrete drop....

I suspect I'm not the only one like this here.

I'd venture a guess that most of us are pretty into watching that stuff - we are, of course, all on a very specific forum! :D
