The crossbracing is going in.. didn't post it, cause I thought you guys would be all over this.

What's up dudes.. this is the most awesome project under-construction in the city. We want Pictures!!!

Thanks - looks amazing. Seems like they are adding some serious perimeter structural support - maybe to take the load of the existing building to the steel exoskeleton and have the existing core carry the load of the new tower?

Is anybody else absolutely amazed that these steel columns are going to carry the load of an entire condominium tower? I really hope the Engineers put fresh batteries in their calculators!

I haven't noticed it before, but the renderings feature the diagonal crossbracing that you see in caltrane74's pictures.

Well the building's form and massing certainly aren't head-turning but this will easily be one of the more interesting engineering projects in the city, along with Queen Richmond Centre.

Damn shame to see this go. How can something so unique not be considered heritage? We're quickly flushing an entire era down the toilet.

Would anyone know how far underground the steel columns go? I think I read somewhere that they dug out extra underground levels for additional parking. So do the columns that we see above ground actually extend 3, 4, 5, etc.. floors underground? I guess they would have to be sitting on solid bedrock? Fascinating engineering for sure.
