Toronto The Kip District | 120.44m | 40s | Concert | BDP Quadrangle

Hard to believe this site housed a shitty, dreary Canadian Tire store that I frequented as a kid with my parents. Good riddance to such suburban trash.

At least the outcome for this former Canadian Tire site will be much better than the outcome for the former Canadian Tire site at Islington and Queensway. My goodness did the city ever screw up on that location.

The current development plans at that intersection look good, no? The plan for the condos replacing the ScotiaBank and restaurants (in the Cineplex parking lot) add density at street level, I think it looks better than the Kip District which looks much more car-oriented in the way that the buildings are set back.

The two buildings to the east of Kip One will be up at Dundas, not set back.

I have to admit, I miss that Canadian Tire. It was at a perfectly convenient location when transferring from bus to subway on my way home.

Dont worry, you can always take the inconvenient- running at every 30 minutes- Queensway bus to access the Canadian Tire on Queensway before it gets razed for a sea of condos.

From today. The crane is now up:

Looks like it's at grade! Sorry for the lack of pics.
I have photos shot on Nov 18, but still working on Oct 15 photos.

The north-west corner is about 2' below street level and looks to be another level of parking as there is a ramp further south of the corner going up a level. The south end is not form for 2nd level yet and the yet to be built area. There is 2 levels of parking below the grade level.

These are rush done and need fixing
