I actually like the concept and can't wait to see it rise and see the quality of materials used. If the balconies are using the same metal as on Harbour Plaza and the grey balcony sections are using clear glass, I think it will be pretty sharp.

That said, I'm biased as a neomodernist shill. All in all, I think it would be VERY hard for this project to end up as an eyesore.

A new render from https://myhomepage.ca/sugar-wharf-condominiums-sep2018/

It won't be an eyesore at all. For me, it could turn out to be beautiful.
It will not be the most iconic building in the world, but it will be beautiful and modern.
It's better than most crappy condo tower being built these last years.

From the Loblaws parking deck yesterday…

And then from Cooper Street, looking back east:

Note that the extension of Harbour Street between this development and the new LCBO tower, and on which the construction trailers are stacked, aligns with a vista of Monde between the Daniels Waterfront buildings:

Yeah, but there is still that Loblaw's land that i have yet to see a scribble on a proposal,
could be 10-20 years before they decide
I am hoping that it's Loblaws that moves into the base of these condos so that they can get a teardown of the current store going as soon as Sugar Wharf opens (three-four years from now). Not that I have any inside info on that — I'm just hoping that's the case.

Thanks for the photos @interchange42. Really unfortunate how’s much of a barrier the gardener is on the east side. Hopefully when all is said and done, the bentway park / improvements extend all the way here some day.
