I walked by last night and most of the concrete is still there. But the site is clear beyond a construction trailer and a huge rig for the shoring.

Now that looks like a proper city! Shack included much more interesting than some vulgar glass trump and boring windswept dead at night office tower district!

I regret not asking my grandmother what life in Toronto was like in the '20s. I wonder what the big issues of the day were then? (Probably the same: poverty, homelessness, nimbyism, etc.)

It was a woolworth's and then briefly Wal-Mart's head office.

Um, that would be Commerce Court and yes it is.

It was Woolies headquarters and main store. I think it was about 5 or 6 storeys, yellow brick, vaguely deco. It was a loss but not a big loss.
