Wonder if Zum will go the way of YRT and GO at York.
Almost certainly. It just a matter of when, not if.Wonder if Zum will go the way of YRT and GO at York.
Did you go down into VMC station from the Viva station?Have gone out filming Viva a bunch the last few weeks, some nice shots of the station and area around VMC towards the end:
The only actual crossover is at Mckowan sat=ion and then Kennedy is the one-way track in and out with a switch on the outbound end that changes depending on when a train is leaving or entering. With regard to the Scarborough RT:
Are there any crossovers between the northbound and southbound tracks from Kennedy Station to Ellesmere Station?
Are there any crossovers between the westbound and eastbound tracks from Midland Station to McCowan Station?
If not, was it a design choice or a technical constraint?
(I imagine that, one way or another, there is nothing along the approaches to the Ellesmere portal and nothing between McCowan Station and the yard.)

May have been both a technical challenge and design choice. The reason only one track is at Kennedy is because they could not put in a double crossover at the curve. They had to put a single one in. The RT originally had two separate platforms but the trains kept derailing in the loop.
As for crossovers elsewhere most of the stations sre under a bridge with limited, impractical access for shuttles. Turning trains at Midland is a non-starter since buses cannot loop anywhere, Ellesmere is under a bridge and does not have the capacity to handle shuttles.
Lawrence East is too close to Kennedy to make a crossover practical.
The loop seems like an odd idea to start with. Vancouver never used it at the end of their lines, was that because it had already proven to be a bad idea between when the RT started service and the expo line began construction?
In case anyone is wondering, the connection between the VIVA station and the subway is still not finished even after so many months. Seems like they are really foot dragging now that the subway has officially been in operation.
What's that? Is that west of that bus terminal they are building? My guess is that it will be finished at the same time as the Smartcentres Terminal.
I thought Smartcentres Terminal was that bus terminal they are building....no?What's that? Is that west of that bus terminal they are building?
What is beign discussed is the concourse area of the VMC vivastation, with the stairs, elevators and escalators.I thought Smartcentres Terminal was that bus terminal they are building....no?
It's just a terminal - i don't think there is a SmartCentre there - there doesn't look like any stores at all.I thought Smartcentres Terminal was that bus terminal they are building....no?
