Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

As pointed out on another thread, whining about things is a Toronto pastime. So a business moves into an otherwise bleak and desolate laneway, bringing with it some activity and a neigbourhood destination, and people complain about "noise" from people talking? Do they not notice the GO trains going by every 30 minutes? Or the subway yard? Or traffic on Greenwood Avenue? Is someone running a contest for the most petty NIMBY complaints that we're all not aware of?

That Davisville Subway Bridge lady video belongs in here too

A couple of years ago a woman living on one of the streets off Greenwood that abuts the north side of the railway tracks complained to the Star about the new signal gantry that was installed when the tracks were upgraded and how unsightly it was and it ruined her view down the street.

This is what gets me. We have three very recent NIMBY stories now, and all of them were generally slammed in their comments sections and these forums, yet these people continue to provide their names for mocking, etc.

Maybe that's the Star's purpose on running these stories? Let these people gripe and learn for themselves, that they're really b!tching about nothing in the grand scheme of things, considering this is a large city.

People seem to have too much free time these days to stew on what's a minor pet peeve and let it drive them nuts.

An old fart that used to live down my street complained about an ice cream truck that comes here once in a while.

Yes, Brampton most certainly takes the cake with their Main Street antics.

However, there was that time when one of Toronto's leading mayoral candidates appealed to NIMBYs against provincially funded transportation plans.
