It's strange that the public realm on the street fails to match the grandeur of the built form in the Financial District. Even Bay Street itself has a rather ugly public realm overall, with rusty utility poles, overhead wires, concrete sidewalks along many blocks and generic street lights. Some ornamental street lights and buried overhead wires would go a long way towards improving the public realm.

Yep. I'd say that, from a strictly aesthetic urbanist perspective, our public realm is Toronto's #1 weakness.

My number one annoyance is the rusting hydro poles. I hardly see them in other cities. In Toronto they are everywhere.
