Toronto Queen & Portland Loft & Condominium Residences | ?m | 9s | Tribute | Turner Fleischer

This project should have just stuck with one colour for the brick, that is, red, black or brown. What they chose is pretty hideous and only magnifies the building's awkwardly disjointed form.

I was saddened to see that they CUT down the row of mature trees along the front of this building on Queen. I don't mind this building but only because the trees provided for a more human scale continuity on Queen despite how massive this building is.

... and we wonder why we don't have mature trees on our major streets :(

What?? Surely to be replaced with new trees. That's insane. Pretty sure the renderings showed trees along Queen. Then again, the model/rendering showed a Garden of Eden happening on the main terrace. I vote for highly unlikely.

Sure they can plant new trees. But I doubt they'd plant mature trees. The trees there were around 7 to 9 years old. They got cut down during the rebuilding of the sidewalk. I passed by today and saw all the cut pieces of the previously thriving trees. This sucks. :(

I agree. There just aren't that many mature trees along much of the street.

Cutting them down looked like the cheap and simple way of getting the sidewalk done. The replacements will probably be the standard stick trees that will be killed by lack of water, vandals and winter.

That's still Jack Layton's ward right? If so, I'll give him shit when I see him this week. Or maybe it's Adam Vaughan's... in which case, anybody from his ward who sees him, give him shit for me...

Jack Layton has a ward? Or do you mean his son?

The building looks more suited to a Bass Pro Shop, or Mountain Equipment Co-op than a Loblaws.
