Looks like Demolition Day for the Toyota on Front / 532 Front Street buildings may be coming soon.

I know it's verboten to say so, but I think based on the renderings this will be a really lovely development. (I have not looked at the site plan however for material choices.)

Most of the above views are gone from the unit I used to live in Panorama. I’d be looking at living rooms and bedrooms in other Cityplace towers across the street (Forward and the likes) where that bit of field with Concord hoarding was in the picture.

Pretty amazing what a world of difference there is in the city landscape after almost 10 years. And to think the further evolutions in around 5 years time, when the Well, KING, Portland Commons, and other projects in the area get completed.

I remember checking out the first CityPlace units along Front Street when they were first being launched. You could get something for 99K at Front and Peter!

Wednesday, June 17:

1. All that remains now is the south-east corner of the former Downtown Toyota building.

2. Ground sampling rig has arrived and been set up on site.

3. The big question - what happens next? Will this corner of the site just be left as is after completion of the demolition? Will the corner be prepared for interim use - additional parking area as part of overall parking lot? Or will the next stage of redevelopment begin soon with shoring and excavation to start shortly? The south building of the main Portland Commons complex - the 501 Front Street West component - still looks to be occupied, and will need to be vacated and demolished before the redevelopment activities get substantially underway. Under the present COVID-19 conditions, relocation for the existing tenants could in the short term be problematic.
