Ha ha, it would be right at home on Yonge Street.
I agree the name is silly and hope it's only for marketing purposes. I sure wouldn't want to live in a building that's called Panda.
Yes the building is black and white, but it's definitely not round, furry and cute.
What's next Kung Pao Condos?

Given its proximity to Ryerson and steps to shopping and restaurants (mostly fast food) and will most likely have a lot of tiny 1-bedroom units, it's easy to say that there will be a good proportion of student tenants living here.
 
Ended up at Yonge and Dundas yesterday. Yes it was a cold Sunday afternoon but still it was so quiet. My personal history was basically all gone (arcades, record stores - a closing HMV was depressing,). This symbolizes it.

Going to the OMB for mediation would suggest that they have been unable to resolve at least one issue through negotiation.

Panda Condos are the cover story in the latest New Condo Guide, the magazine btw which has been re-branded "NextHome".... the article says that the project is "now in the final stages of the city's planning process", and is expected to launch later this fall..

Also, from the latest Cover Letter:
Staff prepared a Final Recommendation Report recommending approval, which was before Community Council on September 7, 2016 for endorsement/approval. While the Recommendation Report was deferred, Staff prepared a subsequent Request for Directions Report, which recommended that Council direct Staff to support the proposal at the Ontario Municipal Board (subject to the modifications recommended in the Final Report dated August 18, 2016). A settlement in principle was reached through the June 19 and 20th, 2017 mediation process, and the plans being submitted at this time are reflective of the agreement in principle reached with City staff.

That is one threatening looking panda. I was expecting something a bit more playful, instead of a terrifying land orca.

With a little less contrast and a different shade of grey, it could pass as a very heavy raccoon -which I think would be more fitting for the city.
