Best view yet (taken between 1920 and 1924). Note the gas pump on the north side of Queen!

It is amazing that they took an more attractive brick building and put cladding over it to make it so forgettable. Not that it was the most attractive building, certainly the two buildings on the east corners are more attractive. I find the stone work is a little too much, but the arched windows and entrance seems nice.

One assumes that if it had not been clad, it would not be undergoing demolition right now (similar to the required retention of the King/Bathurst facade referenced above).
 
How much of the elder structure are they scaling this back too? Just the facade wall or something more?

This morning - The northern section of the building on the north-west corner of Queen-Spadina is pretty much gone now and they are beginning to demolish the guts of the old CIBC bank section. The façade of this heritage building will be preserved thanks to the yellow supports which are being applied on the street side.
