In two or three years when this is up over 70 floors, I'm hoping for another Tomms photo overlooking the core.

Why wait and hope for someone else to go get you a photo? When you can just go and do it yourself

A port a potty is not 8 ft tall. My standing reach is a little above 8 ft and that would be significantly above the height of these traveling toilettes. Seven feet us more realistic, hence a depth of 56 ft or just over 17 metres.

Edit: I looked up the dimensions of a standard port a potty. (How obsessive compulsive is that?). The height of a standard one is 83" or 6'11" or 2.10 metres. Now there is a piece of information that will stick with me long after I forget mire useful information.

Yep. I bet they are considering shifting from meters to standard port a potties as their unit of measurement, even as we speak!

I could but I was implying Tomms might pull another Spiderman stunt and end up in the cockpit of the 1 Bloor crane like he did at Uptown. I'm sure he won't let us down.

That's good to know, but I fear to think what kind of architecture we'd be getting if developers weren't holding themselves accountable to third party critique.

that's an interesting notion.. to think that our comments on a proposed buildings design on some random web forum could actually alter the buildings design, even if ever so slightly.

I walked by it a couple hours ago and can second that. The base for the crane is there, but I'd guess it doesn't go up til next weekend.

I know quite a number of architects and developers that read this site. Look at Symmetry Developments for example. He altered Origami Lofts based on feedback from this site. I know some architects at HP read this forum. Then there's the aA folks.

UrbanToronto has quite a large industry following, in every area. That does not mean that all of our personal wishes are soon to be granted (we rarely achieve consensus on anything, right?), but we are increasingly considered a worthwhile method of gauging the temperature.
