Toronto Mirvish Village (Honest Ed's Redevelopment) | 85.04m | 26s | Westbank | Henriquez Partners

Also, that massive Vox amp being walked into a multi-unit residential development? Not a good look. I have an amp maybe 1/3 that size, and can't turn the volume past 1 without angering the neighbours.
Latest plans include a bandstand next to the market area. I'm guessing that that's where those renderpeople are headed.

"There's no place...
But Toronto is Bloor,
The sky is blue,
any place."

The Honest Ed's signs were tacky, but at least the mostly made sense? What's the deal with the floating words in that render?

I think you're reading those in the wrong order.

One set is "The sky is blue ... but Toronto is Bloor" (pronounced Blue-er for the purpose of this pun)

The other is "There's no place ... [like this place] ... any place"

These are lines straight from the old Honest Ed's, and personally I quite appreciate them here.

Some demo pics from today.

I'm surprised no one has jumped in to address the blasphemy expressed in these last few posts... Honest Ed's and Sam the Record Man are a certain generation of Torontonians' sacred cows. I'd be hiding if I were you. ;)

I am afraid both cows are burnt as offerings to the Gods of Better Architecture and More Appropriate Land Use.

Neither store was ever loved for their aesthetics. Sam the Record Man was loved for the depth of its selection and the extensive knowledge its staff had. Honest Ed's was loved for that "I can't believe they've got this/for this price": while there were always standard products you could count on, there were always surprises, things you never knew that you'd find there.

What's the history of the Honest Ed's building? Was it built in such a maze-like fashion intentionally, or was it a conglomeration of existing structures?
