I was told by a Manulife official (after complaining about metal parts being loaded on a flatbed truck at 3 am - who knows how many people it woke up) that the city actually requires curtain wall to be installed overnight, and I don't really get why that would be necessary. Can anyone confirm this?

Perhaps it's the result of the mayor's office trying to clamp down on lane closures during the day.

I can’t wait for construction to hit Bloor and Bedford. The city just sent out notices about watermain work on my mostly residential downtown street. I can’t wait for the dewatering vacuum trucks going at 3AM.

It's hard to believe that the city still tries to encourage this sort of thing in 2018, with a burgeoning downtown population that is the envy of many North American cities. Downtown doesn't empty out like in the 1960s or in various cities in North America today. It's a series of neighbourhoods. People need their sleep. I don't buy this notion that "you live downtown, therefore you should just shut up and put up with the worst excesses".

Our condo sent us a notice that this was going to be the case, so we were expecting it.
