Mississauga GO Transit: Cooksville GO Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | WalterFedy

Aug 23
Had to laugh after being told by a Metrolinx Representative and a Sr Construction personnel that the new GO station is to open in Oct.

Taking bits that date will be miss on what I saw today.

The station exterior still needs to be finish as well the inside before final setup inside can take place. Then, what is the plan to connect the new station to the existing stair and elevator when the north east corner still not finish. On top of that, the whole area needs to be graded as well building a grade ramp from the new station to the current tunnel/stair grade since they are at two different elevation.

They have added steel framing on the south station end for a plaza and it needs a roof on it.

Concrete has been pour on the north side of the parking structure. Concrete edge for the west platform being place as well work taking place on the new platform.

More steel going up to support the mesh face. All the face of the new parking structure is 100% steel mesh attached to the the building behind the mesh steel framing.

The walkway bridge stair needs to be enclosed.

2020 will see the first phase complete and everything open.

I guess the east entrance will be close at the station to allow for the new connection to the tunnel from the new station. They should make an open for pedestrians at the low level parking at Hurontario to cut down on the walking distance with the closure of the north side. That area will be the new driveway for Hurontario.

Cooksville passengers: Starting September 16, there will major changes to your station layout. We're halfway through your station's transformation and have some new amenities ready for you!

Open:
. Regular parking spaces will be relocated to the first four levels of the new parking garage
. All reserved parking spaces will be relocated to the first level of the parking garage
. One elevator and four stairwells on the west side of the garage
. The station access road between the condo buildings
. The same number of parking spaces will be available overall

Closed:
. All of the parking spaces in the main lot, half of the temporary lot and parking spaces in the west lot near the bus loop
. Levels 5-6, a second elevator and two stairwells on the east side of the garage
. Pedestrian bridge, the exterior of the parking garage and other garage features

More changes will be coming this fall as work progresses:
. Later this month, your new station building is opening!
. In mid-October, work on the platforms will shift to the east side. You will be able to use your new west tunnel and platform; complete with three new elevators.
. The pathway linking the platform to Hurontario St. will also close, so you will need to walk along Hillcrest Ave to access the station.

We are relocating some parking spaces into the garage, so we can start the next phase of construction at your station. Remember to check out our station travel guide to learn more about carpooling, getting dropped off, taking public transit or walking to the station during construction.

Click here for more information about this project and map of the new station layout. Please be patient as you learn your new station layout and remember to give yourself extra time to get to your train or bus until this

Look at the station today and what is finish to say it will open on the 16th??

The driveways need to be clear and pave; not sure how much of the rebuilt west end of the platform will be open, but a lot of missing snow melting system in the open platform missing as well the top on the platform edge. can't get close to the west end to see what is ready.

Unless the driveway is open at the east end to the west end, one hell of a walk from Hurontario to the west end using Hurontario/Hillcrest/Condo driveway for those who use 103/19 from the north. Once again, cars come first with ML and pedestrians and transit rider take a hike.

The new bridge over the tracks not enclose on the stair section nor has handrail.

There is no signs up for the coming changes anywhere on site and the old surprise will take place as in the past on opening day.

Another section of mesh has been installed beside the first one to the east. Windows for the south-west side being clean.

Framing for the plaza roof taking place and would be surprise to see the skin go on next week or the week after it. The beavers been at it that most the inside of the new station is almost done with a great chance to meet Oct opening day as plan.

What is not stated in information for the 16th, is the current temporarily station open on the 16th or will another be open at the west end?? Logic to have it at the west end since most riders will be using that end and a long walk back and forth to the current one. Then, what is happening to the kiss & ride area since there is to be a new one on the north side of the garage.

Rushing to get something open sooner to say "Look at what we have done for you", than waiting a week or 2 to get it right from day one.

They have change their minds on a few things that wouldn't happen as first posted or the last one. Once again, ML rushing things to say "oh, look at what we are doing for you" when they should spend more time getting things finish before opening it up in the first place.

The entrance from Hurontario to the platform still open and will remain open until either late Oct or early Nov once the west platform is finish. About 40% of the west platform has concrete as the rest is in various stage from no work to insulation of snow melting system.

Saw something today that I haven't seen so far, is the building of the full width platform for 2 tracks, when there is no plans for that 3rd track on the north side. Placement of the base stone platform edge being place east of the the west platform and next to the east platform. Smart thing to do from day one.

The roof is about ready to be place on the bridge stair from the parking structure.

I thought there was to be a west tunnel and don't see one after viewing that end from the parking structure.

Bus bays on the north side of the structure, but don't have the exit lanes built or pour. Work taking place for grading to allow the road to be built.

Level 4 empty as well part of level 3. A fair number of empty parking spots on level 1 of all things. Will say off hand, 70% empty spaces for reserve parking spots.

Grading taking place for the entrance to the new station.

Some quick posting of shots from today and no idea when I will have them fix and tag along with the rest up along with the ones I shot on Sept 11.

Was showing someone from out of town the new parking structure and station and they said they couldn't see the west platform opening up in Oct.

With the elevators working in the centre, you can see they go down to the tunnel under the tracks to the platform now. They were working on the platform elevator. Haven't dome much more work on the unfinished platform since my last visit.

The access from the new station to the parking structure has a pour sidewalk and looks like it will be uses to access the walkway bridge when it opens until they finish the main entrance. Forming taking place for flower beds between the station and parking structure.

More steel going up on the north side of the parking structure and the exit bus driveway still not built.

More cars inside compare to my first visit with mostly red lights for the first 2.5 levels now. Still a lot of cars out side and mostly full.

Asphalt was being remove for the east parking area now close.

Roof material for sealing the stair and main entrance roof was taking place, with 50% of the stair done.

The Kiss & Ride area is now open to the point new stick on material has been place on the relocation plan for it.

Had to help a number of people who wanted to take the GO Train after they were told by construction worker where to go to get the train, but fail to tell them it only runs a peak time. I pointed this out to these folks and pointed to the area where they have to catch the GO Bus to Toronto.

Just like we expected when we saw the station over a week ago. Longer walk to the station and then to the platform, requiring extra time to do what you need to do using the station. Why not wait until the west platform is open to open the station then???? You better make sure you card is loaded before using the station now. You will be using the north connection as the front isn't done yet.

Your new station building is opening next week!
Cooksville passengers: We’re halfway through your station’s transformation! On the week of October 7, your new station building will be open!

You can access the new station building through a new pedestrian pathway from the east side of the parking garage. Please note that the station building is not connected to the tunnels leading to the platform yet. We will be working on that later this fall. To access the platform, please continue to go to the east tunnel in front of the Kiss & Ride.

Here’s where things stand at your station:

Open:
? Your new station building including the ticket counter, ticket vending machine, PRESTO machines, and washrooms.
? A Kiss & Ride, south of the parking garage, near the bus loop. We've moved the bicycle racks to this Kiss & Ride.
? The first four levels of the new parking garage.
? Four stairwells and an elevator in the garage
? The station access road between the condo buildings.

Temporarily unavailable:
? All the parking spaces in the main lot and half of the temporary lot.
? Levels 5 and 6, two stairwells and elevators on the east side of the parking garage.
? The south stairs/station access on Hurontario Street. You can still use the north pedestrian pathway to access the train platform.
? The pedestrian bridge and other parking garage features.

Click here for more information about this project and an updated map of the station layout.

Oct 7 and no new station open yet and lets see what the next 4 days bring for opening the station.

New sidewalk from the garage to the front entrance has been pour as well to the old kiss & ride area that is fence on both sides. Crews working on the inside and don't expect to see it open tomorrow. Two large signs on the inside doors to the stations advising riders where they can get to the new the new station.

The west platform will not be open until Nov at this time. The platform base is ready for the snow melting system and once that ready, the concrete can be pour over it.

The roof of the shelters and stairs are now seal with flashing taking place on the platform roof. Work still taking place for installing the platform elevator, but nothing yet started for the walkway bridge elevators..

No work taking place for the outbound bus lanes between the tracks and the garage.

Excavation of the east driveway north edge is underway to bring the old parking area down to street level.

More steel going up on the north side for mesh skin that still not up on the south side, other than the test section.

Building the south side missing sidewalk and driveway underway.

Will have a look at the station on Wed before heading to Toronto to see what new.

Oct 10
According to info pass to me, the west platform is to open Oct 18 and the east section will be close to the public. Those who walk and use miWay on Hurontario are in for one bitch of a walk to get to the station until the east end opens. Better add an extra 10 minutes to travel times for GO riders.

The snow melting is in place on the north side of the new platform and is supposedly to see concrete on Friday. Still got to do the south side. No idea if the system has been checked, but work was underway at the east end for it.

The station open Wed and not finish which is no surprise based on ML track record for opening things sooner than they should.

The main washrooms were close and dark. The only single washroom was on the opposite wall and no idea if it was working since I never check it.

Provision for a retail in a large separate room and could be use for a Tim.

Some unedited photos and there more, but no idea when I will get to them since I still have a backlog of 3,000 and this week had now made it 4,500.

As expected, the Oct 18 date for opening the west platform will not happen. Looks like Nov will be the date or the week of Oct 28.

Cooksville GO: Bike racks moved to new Kiss & Ride
Cooksville GO passengers: We've moved the bike racks to the new Kiss & Ride, south of the parking structure. Click on this map to see where they're located.

We're making progress on your station's transformation. In a few weeks, we’re opening the west side of the platform and closing the east side. This will affect how you get on the GO. Stay tuned for information and thank you for your patience as we improve your station.

Cooksville GO: Platform and station access changes start November 11

On November 11, we’re opening the west side of the platform and closing the east side. This will affect how you get on the GO:
At Cooksville GO
  • The tunnel you currently use will be closed. Please use the west tunnel inside the parking structure to access the platform. Note that the tunnel access is located one level below the ground floor.
  • Platform and train access from Hurontario St will be closed. Please walk to Hillcrest Ave to access the station and give yourself an extra 15 minutes to catch your bus or train.
  • Use our online map and signs at the station to help you get on the GO.

At Union Station

  • Please board any of the cars west of the accessibility coach, closest to York Street. Only those coaches will open at Cooksville.
  • Check the boarding graphic before your trip, listen to the announcements on your train or ask a customer service ambassador for assistance.
GO Expansion will increase the frequency and number of GO trains across the rail network, reduce congestion and connect a growing region with fast, reliable transit options to get you where you need to go. Click here for more information about this work.

Nov 10
Stop by the station today to see what changes are in place for Monday opening of the west platform and found over 2 dozen workers on site.

The east entrance from Hurontario fence off as well from the road to the station for the old entrance.

90% of level 4 parking is now open, as well most stairwells that were block off before.

Doing a sound check on the PA system that started out "what was that" to very clear when I left.

The whole platform has been shifted 2 cars lengths to the west with temporary 10/12 car post on the platform. Crews were washing and cleaning all the windows for the new stair from the tunnel including the elevator and the shelters. Only 2 benches at the west end of the platform only at this time.

A new accessibly ramp and platform has been built since I last saw the station that you find at all stations these days..

Framing for windows has started on the stair to the overpass bridge as well the elevator for it. Still a few months away before it can be use

The southbound stop at John St for 103 and 19 out of service due to gas line work at the new entrance as well work on the entrance. Buses stopping at Hillcrest and the northbound stops as before. Walking time from the ground level to John St time out at 8 minute. Since I couldn't get to the platform, ML time of 15 minutes is inline to what riders will have to deal with over the winter months until the east platform is rebuilt along with the tunnel extension to the new station.

Once the new overpass is open, will be a great place to shoot trains from as I caught an westbound train with 3 units on it from the 4th level by the elevators.

These are unedited, not number and out of order, as well part of the 70 I shot.

Took a look at the station Tuesday night after a meeting and still a lot of work to be done on the platform. Heaters in the shelters, but not working. Lots of flashing and ceiling to be install yet.

There are 6-10-12 car post on the platform temporary until the 6/10 signs get place on the shelters.

The accessibly platform has ramps on both side of it.

Seeing it at night and from the platform for the first time, lights running the length of the parking structure at the top. The north side was more lighted than the south side.

Watch riders get off a train and crunch time to get to the stair and down it, as well the elevators for the parking structure. Very few riders got off the first 3 front cars, as very few on them. Only a small group use the platform elevator.

A long backup of cars wrapping around the ramps from other levels to the street for the east end and most likely the same for the west end.

The train idle longer than normal and most likely to to the crowd at the top of the stair as well on the platform from it to the accessibility platform.

The tunnel has a slopping ramp and there is a 4 & 3 step stair beside it.

Unedited, not tag and out of order with a few out of the 60 I shot
