live stream of it

edit:
Notes
-all stations have occupancy permits
-training resumed mar 17
-software patch was just applied in the signalling system
-TTC have not started verifications; will happen after the end of driver training; estimated to take... no idea short of a 30 day trail run phase
-train frequencies and volumes have not been ramped up yet.
-NO DATE YET until TTC completes their verifications but still aiming for this year....
Pathetic to be 5 YEARS behind schedule and still this wishy washy on getting it running

I am getting sick of the Ford government being like "this isn't our project, the liberals started it, its their fault" etc etc. Yeah ok, here was your opportunity to take charge and fix things, and all you do is blame the past administration.

Be reasonable, they've only had 7 years in government. Give them some time.

Construction of the Line 5 extension only began in 2021.

April 8
Counted 3 sets going west playing follow the leader and 2 sets following each other going west with 15 minutes in between them and nothing going eastbound with green signals. All going at a slow speed.

They have no rights to blame them when they copied their procurement and construction process.
This tunnel first and excavate the station later plan is designed to be a decade long. TTC subway never took this long as they tunnel and excavate at the same time. Now just watch the Scarborough subway extension become their failure.

This cheap tunneling idea is claimed to reduce disruption during tunneling but extends the duration of disruption when evacuation takes so long. They should really go back to the old way and just buy 3 TBMs for Scarborough. Once tunneling is done they would have converted the launch shaft into a station. The digging would have been done always.

TTC tunnelled the Spadina extension first, and then dug down, and removed the tunnel segments.

The big issue is how many years after the tunnelling contracts were first issued, to the station contract being issued (4? 5?).

The TYSSE had all stations excavated during tunneling as either launch or excavation shafts. There were 4 TBMs that went from one station to another and relocated to start another journey. The tunneling between each station only took around 9 months and by the time they were done tunneling in 2.5 years, it would take roughly another 3 years to build the station from the hole upwards. The roughly takes 5-7 years to build the extension.

Here was how Holey and Moley did their tunneling starting at Downsview Park Station.

What ML did was tunnel the entire segment from Black Creek to Allen, moved it across the Allen and tunnel to Yonge. Which took 3-4 years. Then they stalled for a whole year to find a consortium to spend another 1.5 years to relocate utilities and dig to the tunnel. Then took 4-5 more years to build the stations. The stations on the Crosstown were also deeper which took longer to dig. Without any delays, the Crosstown would have taken 10 years.

You can even see the Broadway Subway in Vancouver sees the TBM move across pre-excavated station structure instead of tunnel first, then dig. Which is absolutely waste of time just to stall the financial payouts.

Now that the stations contracts are signed for the SSE, I'm hoping they can start digging at Scarborough centre shortly, and if they start digging at Lawrence East there is plenty of time to spare.
One could hope anyways 😭

I just chimed into that thread too but they also took these signs down at the Mount Dennis station earlier this week for some reason. I will try get some pics the next time I walk by.

Just following up on this...it looks like new signage has been installed at Mount Dennis...the only changes I can note from the original signs are the GO and UP logos beside the train image

FFS, they're still going by the old signage standard, instead of doing things properly!!

Man, I'm annoyed by this inconsistency!

That dashed my hopes for Don Valley.
