Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's closed for 1 single day?! the cautious optimist in me takes that as a positive. Perhaps the project's equivalent to crossing T's and dotting I's perhaps.

The Yonge Subway will be closed between St. Clair and York Mills Station on Saturday for Crosstown LRT construction.

What, exactly, needs to be done now at Line 1 level is beyond me.
Where has it been indicated that this is for Crosstown work? None of the public statements have indicated that, as opposed to the past closures which did explicitly say it.

Yes, the TTC announcement says:

Saturday, January 18, 2025, subway service on Line 1 will be replaced with shuttle buses between St Clair and York Mills stations for planned track work. Shuttle buses will operate. Regular subway service will resume on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 8 a.m.

Possibly to do with fixing this RSZ?

FWIW in the past its been rumoured that Ford wouldn't call an election until an Eglinton opening date had been announced, now of course that was prior to the talk around tariffs having ramped up.

It seems less likely with each passing week that Verster's comment of an early Q1/25 announcement is going to come to fruition.
I've never believed that Ford was delaying Eglinton or Finch for the election, as I simply don't think either will have much of an impact on the majority of voters in the province (or even the GTA for that matter).
Although I know that seems to be the consensus on this site.

The news release says "This Sat., Jan. 18 only, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between York Mills and St Clair stations to accommodate Metrolinx work on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT."

Chowing putting the blame on Ford / Metrolinx. States TTC and the City are ready to go with the opening and training has completed for all the operators and staff.

Well this is a jaw dropping moment. Wonder what the hold up is if training is done.

Not very jaw dropping if you've been following comments in this thread... It has been hinted in many previous messages that training would be done at the beginning of 25, yet some station work (especially one in particular) is not complete...for example:
FWIW - someone in my network says May is a critical milestone. Other comments were, one station remains problemmatic...
30 days per class, and at least for now they are able to teach two classes simultaneously - a morning class and an afternoon class.

2 sets of classes have already completed their training*, with the third not quite half-way through.

Not a fan of Ford but a lot of the blame of the Crosstown can be put on the previous administration as well. The contracts they signed with the P3 were absurd.

Is the goal of this site to be "active", or to provide useful information/images to people?
Because if we're being "active" by spreading unfounded rumours, maybe it's time for a change.
There are certain threads like this one where I would appreciate if all posts were moderated before being made public. 99% of the posts in here are either rumours or ill-informed complaining. If you want actual facts and news, you have to wade through many pages before coming across a quasi factual string of text.
