This thread will be used for discussion of Jane-Eglinton Station: a proposed elevated TTC station on the Eglinton Crosstown (Line 5) West Extension, serving the intersection of Jane Street and Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto's Mount Dennis neighbourhood.

Still waiting for provisions for track switches and ramps to the future Jane LRT (22nd century?).
Lol honestly the best bet would be streetcar-style running from Jane to Weston to Ray to the the Eglinton MSF. Can’t see much of a need for interlining the two services.

The Mt. Dennis Maintenance an Storage Facility is big enough to handle light rail vehicles from both Line 5, the Eglinton West LRT extension, and Jane LRT. All that is needed is a single shared ramp between Line 5 and the Jane LRT.

Luckily this location makes it pretty easy to add that later with minimal cost and disruption. This station is also a bit beefier than the rest it seems, so there may be a sliver of future planning happening here.
 
Mount Dennis doesn't extend into Etobicoke.
Jane & Eglinton is NOT in Etobicoke, it is in York (formally the City of York, formally the Borough of York, formally the Township of York). Three of the four corners are in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood.

The Township of York used to reach as far north as Steeles Avenue and as far east as Victoria Park Avenue, until the Townships of North York (because they wanted to remain farmland) and the Township of East York (because they were separated by the Forest Hill, North Toronto, and Leaside) broke away.

Highly likely I think. In fact I would be a bit shocked if they named it anything else, because there's really nothing else to name it after that makes sense, except maybe Roselands, but that's a bit of a stretch
 
With the awarding of the construction contract to Aecon, it seems safe to say that the moronic NIMBY campaign to have this portion of the line tunneled in a flood plain has failed and the stations will be built elevated as stated. Metrolinx is on a real streak of not letting projects get mired in the 'community consultation' phase. First the Thorncliffe/Flemo opposition was resolved quickly, then the Riverdale attempt to stop trains running down a rail corridor and now this, transit is actually getting built.

I thought they were trying to avoid confusing people with using Eglinton in station names along a line named Eglinton. Scarlett Woods would make sense, but would likely be confusing with a Scarlett station just west of here. Maybe "York", "Roseland", "Topham Pond", or "Nunziata" or "Frances Station" since I can't imagine she'll still be there when this opens - Just like we name everything after Hazel in Sauga, and Frances was basically the Hazel of the former York, and she had a big campaign/plan in the 90s to construct what would have been an Eglinton Subway in this part of town.
