Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

It's also possible for Apple to move in, in advance of decisions being made for James Street, and have the new store designed in a way to take advantage of a future opening to the street—if Cadillac Fairview wants to wait for decisions to be made at Old City Hall first. (Or they may not want to wait. We shall see!)

More news: visitors to the Eaton Centre coming in from the Queen Street entrance will be greeted by a flagship Tesla Showroom.

Tesla is replacing both M0851 and Armani Exchange. This will also give Tesla a Yonge Street address.

Along with the redevelopment of 2 Queen W into an extension of Harry Rosen and a glass showcase for a Tesla car, the Eaton Centre’s Queen Street presence is going to change quite a bit over the next year or two. My hope is that Oakley either moves out or is forced to open up their windows, inexplicably closed up with iron grating.

That’s what I’m expecting. The new store will be built anticipating an opening on to James street in the future but it’s unlikely that it will right away. Apple isn’t going to open on to a narrow sidewalk, facing parked cars. Their goal for their new stores is to turn them into “town squares”. That’ll be possible when (if?) James Street closes and old City Hall is redeveloped into a museum surrounded by a park or a square.

1. There were *months* of “chatter” of his imminent arrest. Who’s revising history here? Why do you think you were all but driven out of that thread?

2. And before, it was the corner of Yonge & Dundas. You’ve gone so far as to make mockups of floorplans with the Apple logo.

3. You use words like “verified”. Nothing has been verified. The article even says CF and Apple have refused to comment. You might want to think before posting. You have a vast tendency to act as though things are sure and set in stone with as much as the loosest of rumours. Whether your info is correct or not doesn’t discount the zeal you have in being the communicator of that info. And that’s the issue here. If you had any of *this* info two weeks ago, you’d not have been posting what you did re: 2 Queen.

In two weeks you’ve talked to a few people and run to tell MacRumors. Any proof, or just word of mouth? Floorplans? Blueprints? Construction contracts? Keep gunning for that Pulitzer, Pedro. I’m sure it’s “imminent”.
so @MetroMan was right all along

More info: Canada Goose is taking the existing Apple Store space on L3 later this year, indicating that Apple will be moving into their new store downstairs before the holidays. There’s no way Apple closes their only downtown store through the holidays without a replacement ready.

Abercrombie has a Kids one level down. It could be repurposed as a temporary general Abercrombie & Fitch so that Apple can take over their space and start building their new store right away, before the new Abercrombie is built.

And a broken clock is right twice a day.
No more of this: anything further in this regard will be deleted.

Interesting developments! So it looks like Canada Goose settled on a space with a smaller footprint, which to me makes a lot more sense than the former J.Crew space. This confirms that a two-story Apple Store is out of the cards, though. It didn't seem that possible to me, especially with the walkway path above on Level 3.

Abercrombie's new store is slated to open sometime this Spring. The space is already kitted out for clothing retail, so it probably won't take too long for them to complete construction within that timeframe, especially with their newer open concept design stores, which are a lot less claustrophobic.

Unfortunately, it'll take decades for the Abercrombie musk to vacate its former premises.

It’ll be just across the hall so I hope Apple retail specialists get used to the scent. o_O

Speaking of Musk, I have confirmation of the Tesla showroom that I had posted earlier:

Tesla has had their cars on display over the christmas shopping season, so this doesn't surprise me. Now if I could just afford a $60,000 car!

As I understand it, Lululemon might be moving into the vacated J Crew space. Lulu is above Abercrombie, with Ann Taylor in between it and current Apple. Does that mean Apple might expand up from Abercombie into a few units?
