Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I still think it would be cool if they could modify a CLRV for the inaugural run on the line. Then the mural would come to fruition.

No No No.....as was discussed previously the last thing metrolinx and ttc wants now is to frame the ECT as another streetcar route to divide the public opinion....it needs to be completely separate
both in operations and public image

But it still "is" a streetcar.

We already have elevated rail here in Toronto, and have had it for more than 30 years (ie: the Scarborough SRT). It certainly got people accustomed to it alright, because now everyone wants it buried.

I think Scarborough residents would be ok with elevated rail if it was the subway emerging from the earth instead of the RT (aka no transfer). BD should have been extended as elevated into Scarborough all those years ago.

Along the old rail corridor.

This!
Out with the old garbage streetcars and in with the new. This isn’t a streetcar line.

There weren't the numbers then, and there aren't now to justify it.

Former PCC streetcars 4446 and 4410 used as rail grinders in the (SHOCKING!!) subway, 1970's. Renumbered to RT-14 and RT-15.

From link.

So they could use old "streetcars" on the Crosstown or other LRT's. Maybe converting some as workcars, as is converting their track gauge to operate on them.

Isn't the subway built to TTC gauge?

At least the cost would be acceptable if elevated. A lower cost would mean the funding envelope has breathing room for 3 stations which makes the ridership credible.
