There’s lots of information suggesting that it could happen. They are doing polling about it:

That is speculative. It is not particularly surprising that they would poll on this. One of the primary objectives of any political party is to get elected and stay elected. It makes sense that they would evaluate and gauge their options to achieve this. However, just because they are doing their due diligence does not mean that an early election is likely. Unless the PCPO starts slipping considerably in electoral polling, it is best to assume that the election will take place on June 2026.

The reason they poll instead of just declaring an election is because many people, among those in support of the PC’s, don’t want to have their tax dollars going towards this.

Well it seems like people are content with the government pissing away $1 Billion to bring more booze to supermarkets and convenience stores a few months quicker than planned. So I mean, whats $150 million for them?

Are you sure it Metrolinx throwing money out the window, not the shitty performance quality by the contractor team??? From what I have seen, it the contractor. Since you can't see 60% of the line as its out of sight, you have no idea what things may look like other than what gets release to the public.. I am going by what I see surface wise.

Its like Mobilinx doing Hurontario that it is common to see concrete tore up after been poured from days to a few months and delays things from a week to 3 months.

Well, the point of an early election is to lock in another 4 year majority before they start slipping considerably.

How is Metrolinx pissing away money by telling a contractor to fix their stuff or they don't get paid what was agreed to?

That's not what ML (and TTC) have been doing.

They have been doing quality checks and asking the contractor to modify things that they feel are out of spec, as they now see it..

Afterwards, they will have a discussion with the contractor who may allege that the original work was performed within spec (as the contract originally required) and the "corrective" work is actually a change order. Or the result of unforeseens that the contractor didn't agree to when the contract was executed. ML may or may not agree. They may negotiate a settlement or they may enter a dispute process. The contractor may end up eating the cost of the correction.... or ML may have to eat some.

The premise that a P3 contract is a fixed price affair that holds the contractor to eating all changes and corrections is a myth. Lots of lawyers have yet to weigh in.

i sure hope they have a long term landscaping contract for this. it better not just turn into a weed infested jungle in 5 years time...

One of the underappreciated positives of this line will be significantly improved access to Sunnybrook and ET Seton park. Especially given how overcrowded the island ferries are.
