Toronto College Park Revitalization with Barbara Ann Scott Skate Trail | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | RAW Design

Wasn't there supposed to be some huge art work or grand arch or something in this walkway between the two buildings

Once the greenery fills in (Hopefully) the space will soften. One concern is it looks like a skate borders heaven as well. It also will be better when it has people and movement.

Today.

I'm going to wait for them to finish and then give it five years for the trees and plants to grow, because plants do grow... a lot. Basic principles of gardening include not overcrowding and being patient.

I don't like why Toronto almost always spaces out the benches. Why not build one long curved bench? It would have looked better and also provide more seating for people to sit in groups and socialize. I much prefer how NYC builds benches in long stretches that encourage people to interact. I realize there are lots of anti-social people in the city who want to keep their distance, so why not offer both options with long curved benches around the central circle and more separated benches in the areas behind? This way, it prevents places for people to create a more social central focus/gathering area, like I always see in NYC. (and enjoy quite a lot)

I am sure this has been addressed before but it's a great pity that the concrete area on the north-east corner (with the strange 'sculpture') remains untouched. Is it actually part of the College Park building?
