Attended a by-invite community meeting with Rekai and their construction manager last night.

They indicated construction mobilization will be in January, 2025 with excavation / shoring to begin in March, 2025.

Approximately a two-year timeline to completion.

They seem to be working on a tight schedule, so things must have been happening behind the scenes.

great news. the current empty lot cuts the canary district off from corktown so it'll be nice to have cherry fully built out

^Great! I had been wondering if the delay was due to the potential of a merger with dealership to the west for a similar project to what is going up on the south side.

I just wish they’d demolish the dealerships to the west to build a medical mall. Be great if seniors didn’t have to cross a street for a pharmacy or journey too far for basic diagnostics.

Canary was once deemed the “health district”, and for all that we got a dentist and healthy snacks at TD. Avantderm in the distillery does more healthcare before noon than canary does in a month.

Good news! The Rekai building includes a Seniors Assessment Centre, dialysis centre, a blood lab (that will offer public access), and a potential physiotherapy clinic (TBD). No pharmacy, but I think the residents will be served directly.

Though I also like to see empty lots filled, I do not think these ones cut the Canary off from Corktown and there are no plans for additional streets as far as I know. The difference will be that, when the lots are filled, the trip will be bit more interesting!

yea i didnt mean it literally. more from a cohesiveness standpoint. no one likes walking past empty lots

Two things 1. Anyone think they could have started shoring this month, but didn’t wanna miss that lucrative Christmas Market parking lot money? And 2. Shovels in January. 13 storeys. Could this get topped out before 2026? It’s a smallish patch, there doesn’t seem to be any wild features. Goode stacked up more than 13 storeys this year alone. Am I jinxing it?

But you're still more vital, energetic and active not only than most people 1/2 your age; but most people 1/3 your age!

You're not going anywhere 'gracefully'........... and we're all better off for it.
