Well,... it seems somebody from GibsonSquare's NorthTower with balcony on north side is pissed-off about losing his/her view soon due to Sorbara Beacon project,.... this is getting to be a "crappy" situation,....

'Poo bandit' strikes in North York

It started with a single plastic bag of excrement landing in a North York condo building laneway about a year ago.
Then the bags started to add up.
Some days, up to five little clumps of poop — human or animal unknown — would wind up on the ground, near an adjacent daycare centre and on top of port-a-potties at a construction site across the street.
Sometimes, the waste would be delicately wrapped in a paper towel or toilet paper in the laneway behind Gibson Square, at 5168 Yonge St., near Empress Ave.
Victor Tran, a resident in the area, wants to know “the poo bandit” behind it. In a heartfelt plea, he posted photos of the bags of feces on Reddit asking for more information.
He suspects the culprit is flinging the disgusting packages from a balcony high-up in the condo building.
“There was only one guy who witnessed an Asian lady chuck s--- off her balcony, but no one has any hard evidence,” Tran, 32, said.
“It’s just getting a lot worse now. It used to be once a month. There are multiple piles. Everyone’s been complaining. It’s disgusting.”
Toronto Police confirm workers from the construction company — Sobara Group, which is building its Beacon Condos project — filed a complaint Oct. 4. Complainants told investigators various objects had been tossed from an unknown balcony into the area where they worked.
“The items included, glass bottles, fruits, and on the day of the report, a bag of dog excrement was tossed,” said Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook. “It is undetermined exactly where the items are being tossed from, however it is believed be coming from a balcony at 5168 Yonge St. That is all the information we have at this time, the investigation is ongoing.”
A spokesman from Sobara Group didn’t answer requests for comment.
The director of Yonge Hearts Childcare, who only identified herself as Jennifer, said it was concerning someone was dropping dung from above, especially near children.
“We do have children running around and (the bags) were landing near our parking lot and they were also landing in the construction lane,” she said.
In an unrelated incident earlier this month, a Toronto man – John Benzinger, 60 – was charged with 12 counts of mischief and 12 counts of offensive volatile substance after police were made aware of a number of disposable coffee cups filled with human feces and urine on parking meters.

I think you are correct, @sunnyraytoronto, but it would be some time before it makes him or her go too much as a maniac. Throwing excrement will be relatively hard to clean up, so don't be surprised if tons of bags of waste are tossed when this building approaches its final height.

Beacon started construction (shoring & digging) around CanadaDay 2015. Almost 1.5 years to finish foundation and get back to ground level may seem on the long side,... but you have to remember this is a relatively large site with 4 levels of underground parking for about 459 parking spaces, once they finish off the 4-storey podium structures then you'll start seeing it rise faster at a more respectable pace. And right now, they look on pace for their June 2018 delivery date,.... and according to my calculations - they'll have to mess-up big time to miss that delivery date.

The main reason I think the foundation part took longer is they have to build extra structures,.... and you can bet we'll see the same issues with G-Group's Centrium2/EllieCondo construction directly to the north - likely even more so since their site is more impacted,.... these 2 projects will need extra anchoring and water-proofing for their foundation,.... and one or both would also need to build an underground water collection system, underground cement water reservoir and filtration system.
(Note: Beacon's underground cement water reservoir might be visible now along perimeter of foundation if anyone wants to look for it and photograph it - EmeraldPark's underground cement water reservoir is along it's east side under in front of Yonge Street frontage stores even though underground creek its it along it's north and west side.)
Why? Because there's an underground creek running through the site! Remember all the approximately water pipes sticking out of the grounds to drain the site?
Toronto is really a city of valleys,.... and there's lots of creeks feeding these valley rivers but some of these creeks have been buried over time,....
Just southeast of Edithvale Community Centre, there's Wilket Creek that extends to Hounslow Ave but then disappears,.... as it gets buried,... it only reappears southeast of Doris Ave and Empress Ave along what the local high school kids call the "Pot Trails" (no elaboration needed),... which makes it's way down to WillowdalePark, then GlendoraPark,... crosses Highway 401 in separate grade underground cement tunnel,... names its way through St.Andrews area under former golf fairways,... cross Bayview Ave just north of YorkMillsRd into IrvingPaisleyPark, where WilketCreek is finally exposed again and eventually makes its way to SunnybrookPark and then joins the DonValleyRiver into LakeOntario.
There's a map here at this link that shows how Wilket Creek was rerouted into a Storm trunk sewer under municipal right-of-way roadway between Hounslow and Empress Ave (if you see any large vents along this route - look down into it during a rainstorm!!),... but the natural Wilket Creek flows near this site and more specifically the G-Group Centrium2/EllieCondo site to the north,.... thus any large structure built nearby will need very strong anchoring and waterproofing for foundation and underground water collection system.

Anyone thinking what I'm thinking???,.... underground cycle track bike lanes!!!! ;p Actually, already went through this with city for an upper segment under Hwy 401 as separate grade crossing for cyclists,... city bean-counter has issue with something called "city liabilities",.... whimps!

As the article says, the WilketCreek storm trunk sewer through NorthYorkCentre might be the largest storm trunk sewer in Toronto! The diameter of the storm trunk sewer could probably host TTC subway trains!!!! Notice, construction was in 1971,... prior to any any plans of high-density development along the Yonge Street Corridor in NorthYorkCentre (first major development SheppardCentre only finished in 1976); since then all the high-density development in NorthYorkCentreSecondaryPlan area (70% full now) creates lots of water run-off that must be handled by the local sewer system,.... now, some of the nearby single residential houses experiences basement flooding issues.

I remember when it went south of Hounslow. On the southeast corner of Tamworth. Similar to the northwest corner of the intersection.

Believe it or not, but people do actually bike in Wilket Creek drain. It's definitely big enough. There was a video on youtube that has since been removed.

Odd getting a sink hole just a few blocks south of where the natural Wilket Creek meets Tamworth Road at Hounslow Ave a few days ago,.... "Toronto Fire received a call at 4 p.m. saying a man was trapped in a hole up to his shoulders. The sinkhole is next to a drainage hole, Toronto Police Services reported."

While the natural Wilket Creek runs a few blocks north of this sink-hole,.... the sink-hole area seems to line up with a tributary that goes through DemseyPark then joins the natural ghost of what remains of Wilket Creek closer to Ellerslie and then directly hit this site and the site just north (G-Group Ellie-Condo/Centrium2). But with all the development and construction nearby along both side of Yonge - and this site going down 4 levels it's possible area natural underground water isn't flowing properly through the area underground and underground water table raising further upstream.
