Diamond Schmitt's designs for this looked pretty nice. Too bad they didn't get to build it. Thanks Shiplake, you could have had something here.

Agreed, but as the architect, it's also their responsibility to translate those (beautiful) initial images into something that meets the proponents financial drivers as well as their own aesthetic ones. At this, to me, they have failed.

The only recourse was probably to get out of the project. They are just vendors. They can only advise in decisions based not purely on financials but also on poor tastes. I'm sure Shiplake finds this gorgeous.
