Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

With all the glass towers going up in the past decade, I sometimes forget just out outnumbered they still are by the 20th century concrete/brick towers (at least north of the rail lines).

So true. One of my (NIMBY) friends claimed that the "entire" city was now "all green glass". Amazing how hyperbole (and reading the Toronto Star) can skew peoples' thinking.

I do like Aura, from up close and from far. From close up, the various colours in the finish mix nicely together. The design of this tower is great, too. I'm thinking of those setbacks above the 50 storey level (the east elevation setback is yet to come). There is flair, and at the same time the approach is still a touch understated. The five-storey grid repeat is just great.

Like the majority of posters, I'm less than impressed with the stuff going on at street level. A bit of under-reach, from a retail standpoint. Years may change that; it all depends on how at-grade retail evolves along Yonge.

Oh, I worry about the glass balconies, though. It's all about how they get used. If residents are allowed to stash junk on them, well, then there goes the 'hood.

Making it's presence known downtown. From Bay/Adelaide.

Does anyone know whether they will be doing something to beautify the underside of the metal awning the juts out above the retail podium? They really ruin the aesthetic of the lower part of the building.

That's a temporary barrier to prevent stuff from falling from the construction site above. Once the tower is finished it will be removed.

Nobody has reported on the new Marshall's yet? I figured there would be a few pics up by now, since it opened a few hours ago. Come on, you slackers.

It's the moment you've all been waiting for, folks! Some interior shots of Marshalls. It kinda reminds me of a nice Zellers or Walmart with the finishings.

It looks much better then Bed, Bath & Beyond. It looks to be fairly large too. I hope they have a few good deals.

Thanks for posting those pics.

^ Wow so that means another 22-23 floors to go! Basically another 250ft to go in height.
