Not to ruffle any feathers, but is it not possible we're being a tad over critical before seeing the finished product? If anything, I think it was over hyped, giving the public false expectations, but, foolishly perhaps, I'll remain optimistic until the final tile is layed. BUT, I will admit, the so called Mall looks more like a series of flea market booths, I only hope that if they're able to sell those closet sized units, and they add a few decorative accents and perhaps a better paint job, it might look ok, fingers crossed!

Hope springs eternal.

The thing is, substantial portions of this project are finished, and the low standard of quality is already evident. The quality of a building is holistic; any substantial part is representative of the whole. It does not seem realistic to suppose that the quality of Aura will improve as more of it gets done. What we will get in the end is simply a lot more of what we've already got. And I will venture to say that what we've got here is just another bottom-line, "take the money and run" development. The only difference is the prime location and massive, massive scale. Which is what makes the whole thing so unfortunate.

The mall at Aura does look surprisingly drab and disappointing to me. However, I've never seen an unopened, unsigned, unoccupied shopping mall before. So i'll keep hoping that when some life and lighting, signage and shine are added, it'll be ok. I could, of course, be wrong... but that's never happened before. :)

I walk by this project every day on my way to work and I have to agree that the quality is not high here. The materials look cheap, the design is bland and unoriginal and it's too massive for its context. Overall it's disappointing, but not horrible. The upside is that it's going to inject life and vibrancy to a sketchy part of Yonge. I'm all for increased density, and this will certainly accomplish that.

I must be loosing it, wait, how can I loose something I lost years ago? The last time I walk past Aura, it was a dull, cloudy day and the exterior looked a very dull, depressing almost greenish gray, today I drive past, a sunny day, it looks fantastic, so from now on I can only look at it when it's sunny, other ill want to hang myself! Lol! (Just being silly, but seriously, the exterior conditions make a huge difference, question is, should it? You'd think if they used the right materials it would look good no matter what the lighting conditions, granted, everything is probably covered in dust, I'm hoping once it's topped out and cleaned, it will look like a tower worthy of the millions of dollars per unit price tag, because as it is, aside from it's sheer size, it does not look like a building for millionaires, any think the same?

I've only seen Aura at night over the last few months, however, I'm waiting for the other half to be completed. I hope the top half, with a sleeker look will improve it. but from the posts I'm reading, it doesn't sound promising. I think its more important than ever to get the Gehry & casino projects done. Now everyone say this together, we need these projects, we need these project, we need them now. Can I get an Amen.

I'm curious whether the white blind effect will ruin the top part of the building. It probably will. I'm guessing the glass will probably be darker and more grey than what we're expecting, considering this is supposed to be canderel's "masterpiece" they should probably quit while they're ahead. (in sales) The white blind effect that ruined burano, ritz carlton, mls, and half of southcore will probably happen in this building as well.

White blinds didn't ruin the glass effect at any of those projects. Does turning on the lights in those buildings on an overcast day or at night ruin the glass effect too?

The majority of the units in this building were selling for well under a million. If your talking about the penthouses, sure those units are priced at more than a million. But you can say the same for just about every new building that has penthouses in this city.

So... basically your saying you don't like the building because someone else said they didn't like it?
Your obviously entitled to your own opinion, but you should at least have one.
Really that's just sad.
