But Stollery's tear down by Mizrahi gets more attention on this board.. and by City Hall. The politics that people in this city, more specifically our public servants like to play is appalling.
 
In exchange for that Art Deco facade, we’ll get a YC / INDX hybrid, probably with accent lighting on the boxes that will partially stop working (and not replaced) after less than 2 years, like they do at INDX.

Nothing to cry about but I guess since Toronto as literally destroyed all the character properties for crap in the 70s, people tend to want to hang onto everything.
 
Not everything, that bland no architecture interest older rental building next door can go and there's no regrets, but that art deco facade is something we'll never get back
 
Yup, it was just the street facing façade, too. There was nothing art deco or remarkable about the rest of the demolished building, but they could've kept the façade.
 
Seems like demolition of the second building is getting underway in earnest today. They've brought in high reach arms to get to the top of the next one.
 
Does anyone know if there is usually a delay between demolition and construction for these types of buildings? Perhaps for applying for permits, moving stuff, etc.? We are quarantining and would love to have a little break from all the noise.

48 Isabella?

The time to get these things on the Heritage Registry is before a demolition permit is requested. 34 through 42 Isabella are listed; not the adjacent 48 though.
