The Weather

A tornado downtown? It's only a matter of time before this happens, but did one really hit now? It's probably just straight line winds, and bad reporting.
No, it was just a funnel cloud. Hopefully there isn't going to be a tornado in the core.

In some twist of fate, I actually went to Canada's Wonderland today. Started my way home just as the bad weather started, so I was pretty lucky.

It took two and a half hours to get home, but on the way I saw the two Tornadoes that occurred in Vaughn. On top of that, I saw two or three funnel clouds forming in the area.

Thankfully, I arrived safely. The weather's not as bad here, but my cat's going crazy right now. At least the bad weather came near the end of the day

Everything's much brighter, with low cloud drifting between the downtown office towers, and plenty of rain and flashes and rumbling and loud bangs still.

We had a funnel downtown... saw it. Looked like we had another one minutes ago - was rotating quite clearly, and looked rather large before it disappeared.

Yonge & Sheppard got hit really hard around 7:15, though no funnel clouds were visible. As of 7:57, there is a very creepy mauve sky hovering over North York, with the light trying oh so hard to sneak through.

Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high.
There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue.
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops, Away above the chimney tops.
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow,
Why then - oh, why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow,
Why, oh, why can't I?

Wow. That's a great video. It will probably end up being an F2 or F3 from the looks of it. I was looking out for funnel clouds downtown but I only face East so the only time I could see the sky would have been before the torrent of rain. Does anyone know where the funnel downtown was spotted?

I'm a little disappointed in the news coverage of storms in Southern Ontario. CBC was doing a great job covering the storms and then 7pm hit and on to regular programming. You would think with such a major event that affects the safety of people in the city, they would have continued with coverage.

^^ CP24 is doing an excellent job of obsessing over this incident.

I found the golden sky really eerie actually. It was quite beautiful, but it seemed strangely unnatural.

Now, the two questions that are plaguing me: Are more storm systems like this to come in the coming days? And is this huge storm in any way related to Climate Change?

Is this the one you're talking about?

^ Nope, that's just a wall cloud moving into the city. People often confuse those for Tornadoes.

some amazing after photos.

Woh at that video from Vaughan.

You would think its video of a Tornado hitting Suburbia in Texas or Oklahoma buts that is right in our back yard.

Its going to be a week full of unseen weather in Canada.

First time ever a strong Tornado hits Toronto and a huge hurricane hitting the east Coast.
