Wow. Are they finally trying to get rid of the Times Square down there?

Since they're upgrading to more square footage of video screens then I'd say they're getting closer to Times Square.

Oh. I thought they were trying to get rid of it based on the photos. Looks like its getting worse!

A few video screens and billboards are being replaced with one massive curved video screen. They are currently in the uninstall old screens & billboards phase.

Well considering this part of Toronto has long been chock full of neon, billboards, and over the top commercialism it's just morphing into a better version of itself. The assumption that Toronto is just trying to be some place else gets very tiring.

I suppose people wouldn't believe me if I told them that New York's Macy's Day Parade got its start because they wanted a parade just like that parade they have in Toronto (Santa Claus Parade). That's true yet you won't hear New Yorkers describe it as New York's version of the Santa Claus parade now would you? Rock bottom self esteem is, by far, the most irritating thing about Toronto.

I am so sick of Toronto using electricity! Times Square is all electrically powered signs, we should leave that to them! It's time that we stood on our own and stuck with what we know: maple! Our signs should be constructed with home-grown 100% Canadian maple, hand-sawed by plaid be-shirted lumberjacks and burnished to perfection by an army of beaver-fur be-coated Canadiennes. Meanwhile, don't get me started on the fountains at Yonge Dundas Square (water is so Rome-wannabe) which should flow and froth with unending imperial gallons of maple sap… and when you want a little something to eat, Blaze Pizza's one offering should be maple taffy on a crushed Victorian red brick crust (binding agent: maple syrup) from the heritage stock of homes we're demolishing.

Now that would be Toronto!!!

Honestly though, what have NYC (or lord forbid, London) done to deserve comparison to Dundas Square?

Just in case it escaped anyone - I don't mean it as a compliment.

While we're at it... ditch the private security at Dundas Square and replace it with mounties.

I enjoyed the humour!

But personally, I just can't stand advertising everywhere; I find and have always found Times Square ugly as sin; I can't understand why anyone would want to emulate anything about it, badly, or well.

10 Dundas is an eyesore.

No change in the nature of the ads on it will fix that.

But I appreciate that others have less refined taste than I ;)

That's what makes the world interesting.
