TCHC: West Don Lands Affordable Housing (589 King St E, 2x 4 + 8s, Core Architects)

It is a lot of grey haha...but hoping with the very cool woonerf and great landscaping plans that it's going to soften the brick selection here at street level. From my vantage point on the 12th floor of River City, I'm hoping to look down on some decent green roofs, too.

Hmm, the taller building looks kind of OK, the rest is a bunch of garbage:eek:

So are you suggesting that the government didn't spend enough tax money on this social housing building? Coming from Ford Nation, that would be quite the revelation. I haven't heard too many right wingers demanding better quality social housing but hey, anything is possible in this crazy world. lol (including Ford just getting elected, I can't think of anything crazier than that. Except, him getting re-elected. CRAZY!))

I have heard that there is a Sobey's going into this development. Photo taken 20 July 2013.

The brick facade with nothing but a few small windows in a boring pattern is unremarkable. That mechanical box is terrible. If this is supposed to be decent architecture, then we should be saving those 1950s red-brick apartments in Regent Park.
