St Lawrence Market

I know the new owner (a Czech dude) who bought the business from the previous owners (a German couple). He kept all their old recipes and yes, it's good stuff. He plans on franchising the business....which would be interesting. A chain of schnitzel restaurants? o_O

His pitch for investment to help franchise SQ got brutally shot down on Dragon's Den.

The Pizza Hut on Lower Jarvis - next to the new Tim's - just south of The Esplanade is now open. Not a great place for passing traffic but the Tim's seems fairly busy so ...

Those two little parking areas on the east side of Lower Jarvis south of Esplanade in front of that new Pizza Hut always (used to) have spots on a weekday. It's one of my favourite easy parking spots in the area, particularly if I want to quickly pop into the market while driving past. I guess that will change ...

The Acura dealer seems ready to move (from Front/Lower Sherbourne) into the space formerly occupied by Volvo. The development proposal for that site (Sobey/Acura) is going to OMB in about 4 weeks.:

While not in the same area, this is related to car dealerships; Near Richmond and Ontario street there is a large dealship and an old buidling:

"Center Country" ?

Does anyone know what's up with this site, I think the dealership closed a while ago, do they own that whole large building as well on the east part of the site ?
This used to be the Centre Honda and there were soil-testing rigs on site last fall. They apparently own the land from McFarrens Lane and including the white building adjacent to it on Richmond. Clearly a future site for something.

Is the warehouse building on the east part of the site vacant ?

Its a big building, with a 'white' section further east.

It's the old (Joe) Carrier Shoe Co's building.

Seems there's a new coffee shop going into the base of a condo building on Frederick St between King and Front. Almost directly across from a Starbucks, no less.

Project: Multiple Unit Building Interior Alterations

Description: Proposal for interior alterations to ground floor unit for new restaurant, less than 30 seats - Neo Coffee Bar

Renovation of this retail space is taking place now. From BlogTO:

Barista Bruce Ly of Voodoo Child and pastry chef (and gelato maker) Masashi Nakagome of Manic Coffee are teaming up and opening their own spot. Neo Coffee Bar is in the works at 161 Frederick St. and set to open this spring.

That's a good team, so this sounds very promising. It'll need to be a bit of a destination to make it on this quiet street.
