Yeah, I'd feel relieved to tell everybody the truth if releasing that truth is what I've been threatened with for half a year.

I've been pondering this. The following is just speculation:

1. Crack video story breaks
2. Ford runs from media for a week
3. Fancy cars driving around Dixon show off suitcases full of money
4. Ford confidently denies crack video exists
5. Ford will not step down under any circumstance

Most people assume Ford just bought the video himself and had it destroyed. But wait... what if it was not Ford who bought the video? What if those suitcases full of money convinced Mohamed Siad to give up the video? What if the person offering those suitcases full of money then strongly encouraged Ford to not step down? What if that person had some things he needed Ford to do for him? Would the video surfacing change any of that if there were now threats involved? There's some pretty powerful people in the city and this is all starting to fit into a neatly finished puzzle.

But there are only three groups that could want the video from the original gang: The Liberal Media, Ford Nation, and The Law.

Haven't you been following the UrbanToronto narrative? Lisi was *best buddies 5ever* with Ford, there's no way that a rival syndicate could ever outbid/outmurder the mayor in order to hold it over his head. What, could Lisi have been a fair-weather friend and the best connection for a certain group to hold it over his head after acquisition? No way, because organized crime is actually just one big group, there's the normal citizens and The Dark Side, there's no war going on that swept over the mayorship... or that's how it looks from our parents' basement. (*not directed at you, MM, but at the presumptions over what this extortion case is all about)

I googled awhile ago those molotovs thrown into Jacobs steakhouse and it turned up nothing. Why wasn't it in the news? And why aren't they firebombing Harbour Sixty which is more connected to the Fords anyway (I see either Rob or Doug eating in there a fair bit)? MM, who do you suspect is up to those molotovs?

It's just the first link I happened across, but the info in there is accurate. The whole thing is sort of a scam.

The article you linked to was quite germane. The rest of the nutblog was...erm...disconcerting. Axes to grind, etc. Put the germane bit into blurry relief and kinda diminished the good point that was striving to be made, i.e., the general deep-end of high-friends-in-low-places excremental slop that is extruding in stinky torrents AS WE TYPE.

I agree with the notion that he won't step down because he has some more work to do for the people who are pulling his strings. His perseverance at this point seems laboured. I get the feeling that he wants this over just as much as everyone else does.

Also just a question about Project Traveller - that's all over with now right? All this talk about PT being about organized crime I haven't seen any arrests. Fuck I wish the cops would do something about the mob in this city - it's been getting more out of control and openly worse for years now. So how effective really was project traveller???

I agree with the notion that he won't step down because he has some more work to do for the people who are pulling his strings. His perseverance at this point seems laboured. I get the feeling that he wants this over just as much as everyone else does.

It looked like he was going to resign the day he confessed about the crack, and then Doug showed up and they went into a meeting. When Rob came out, the arrogance was back.

I have been mulling over Harper stepping in if Wynne does not. Somebody has to end this. Surely it's having an effect on Canada's reputation and how our leadership is viewed in the world market. Plus Harper has enough "bad tories" in the Senate. I am sure even Harper would like this to go away.

I think that's melodramatic.

Ford has been involved in crime himself. The whole Lisi thing and the Dixon connection stinks far too much.

What Blobby is afraid of is losing his privilege and probably doing time. The whole family is seeing it all turn to shit.

If Ford does get convicted of any of the sleaxy manila envelope shit he's been up to then not only is his ass grass when he goes to the joint but Mom and Pop Ford's little dream of being the Borgias is history.

All I wonder is, will he hang himself or squeal that he's being wronged when the time comes to frogmarch him off to jail.

Rob Ford isn't insisting that he is such a positive role model for kids, despite all the evidence that he's a horrible role model for anyone, because he is marching to the orders of some powerful crook higher up. He's lost in some very sad delusion and he's trying to hang on to the idea of himself as a respectable community leader - winning football coach, tax-fighting mayor. With his unbelievable poor judgement and despicable family it's quite possible that he's got himself into a horrible mess where other people were hurt. But the dynamic driving him now might be something small and lonely.
