Interesting. Some people think he might go for that vacant seat in Scarborough.
Not only that, but probably running at a shortfall, given the Ford propensity to set unrealistic attendance et al goals....No mention the cost of that reception up at congress centre - I bet it won't be all that cheap.
I think we should do everything we can to get him elected provincially. It'll keep him away from city hall and three years as an opposition backbencher should sap any political will left in his body. Maybe he can even follow in his daddy's footsteps and lose the next nomination.http://www.torontosun.com/2016/04/04/doug-ford-meeting-with-pc-party-leaders

Brown should read Towhey's book before accepting Doug Ford into his party.http://www.torontosun.com/2016/04/04/doug-ford-meeting-with-pc-party-leaders

Reading between the lines it sounds like Doug is running his own draft Doug campaign. One call to Worthington and now he's instantly the frontrunner. Alternately, this is a chance for Brown to float the balloon at low risk.http://www.torontosun.com/2016/04/04/doug-ford-meeting-with-pc-party-leaders

dougie a backbencher? when he could grandstand regularly in toronto city council with a live Rogers television feed and Sun and CP24 reporters waiting in the halls?
not likely
Yeah, he is used to commanding attention as a counciillor and mayoral candidate. Backbenchers generally don't do that. They make the odd generic speech and tow the party line.

You think if they form government Dougie will be holding private meetings with lobbyists in Brown's office without telling him what he was up to?
I'm still thinking there might be a chance that Dougie will try to be Trump's running mate.Maybe he will run as an independent with the tacit approval from Brown - the nudge nudge wink wink would serve both well. Brown is obviously concerned about looking intolerant and worse - but when push comes to shove, he have no trouble sleeping with the more radical elements of his party (e.g. McNaughton - over the whole sex ed thing). Maybe he'd put forth no candidate - or some sacrificial lamb one that has no hope in hell of winning.
